Sam Gale

Fantastic news. Superb bit of business.

Essentially he's the future of our club & I fully expect him to be captain before his new deal ends. Have been hugely impressed by his maturity & a commitment level which puts some of the senior pros to shame.

Must now be a regular starter for the rest of this season & that will be on merit.

Seriously good player.

Just watched his interview talking about the new deal, he seems remarkably self assured and composed for someone his age. Says all the right things also and not in a football cliche bollox sort of way, seems completely sincere. Top man.

Now let’s put Harry Webster at right back alongside Gale and give Gbode a run in the starting 11 upfront. Great to see the youth coming through into the first team.

UTG.

Showed determination maturity and passion against County if only the rest of the team followed
Wish he could have picked that little prick Jones up and flung him off the pitch

There may be several responsible over several régimes but there has been some good work at GFC involved in the recruitment and development of young players. I suspect it has been done on a limited budget and certainly without a B team/reserve set up. Respect to those who worked with Webster, Gbodé and Gale and let's hope more to come.

Coleman singled out Gale as a potential future captain in his latest press conference. Says he's already got good leadership qualities. Great to hear.
That potential did seem to shine through in his recent interview so no real suprise. Still learning his trade at league 2 but I would imagine he could be ready in a couple of years to step up if asked.

Having a vocal leaders in defence, midfield and among the forwards is an important recipe for success. Will certainly help when players and the team are going through a rough patch which should reduce the severity and time of a rough patch.

A lot of work will have been done in analysing good loans for our youth players as well as part of their developmental pathways, so credit where it's due to whoever's doing that job as they appear to have picked clubs that have developed our players well.

Always pleasing to see people not in the first team limelight getting credit in this situations though!

Not sure how much of them you have seen Joe but there's some decent players underneath the websters, gbode and gales to come through.

Bayliss has good potential, as does Sam Sargeant and below that there's a couple of age groups very highly rated
