Safe Standing

What a bunch of hypocrites the Scousers are.

It's been said many a time that any campaign to bring back 'safe' standing would be knocked on the head by the bindippers because of what happened in the crowd crushes of Hillsborough.

However, watching their game tonight, they're all standing, that's not very safe with no 'safe standing' rails to hold on to.

I wasn't aware that Liverpool fans had objected to the idea of safe standing, personally would love to see standing areas back at the game but it's not going to happen because supporters these days are more worried about their mobile phone signal and posting Facebook updates.

Watching the game and Liverpool are shit, amazing the difference one player made to that team.

Basel look a very decent outfit, Liverpool look like a team managed by David Brent, which is what they are.

Good to see Saint Stevie G with that pained expression on his face.

He looks like he's suffering from bad gas. The Beiber hair cut wearing, whiney voiced, Bugs Bunny soundalike twat.

If the Germans can have 'safe' standing in their stadia, why the hell can't we figure out a way of doing it? Decent stewards and security are a must but i gather SJP nowadays is like an Oprah without a conductor.

Safe standing is a far better option than what we have currently which is unsafe standing. I'd also like to think it would decrease ticket pricing rather than just giving a bigger slice of the pie to fat owners and greedy players .

At one stage the stewards at wor place used to bust a gut to get people to sit down or cart them off, recently though, nowt.

It's allowed.

It'll come in . I've said before it's down to money and as soon as owners and chairman see the numbers from the one or two early adopters they'll all go for it .

Maybe not a great subject to talk about for many reasons but for those that want to attend or even care about going back in the future, Celtic are getting a safe standing area so why can't the toon? Especially moreso if we stop up against the odds and interest grows.

Could use the lower Gallowgate or SJH stand for a trial.

Wasn't it being trialled at Bristol City or somewhere this season. It's the only conceivable way we would be able to increase capacity with Ashley having sold off the only land we could have built on.

Aye,I'd sing in that corner & shout the odds with mi Grandbairn & smuggle em in.
Meanwhile fatty is getting away with murder & wonga remains on the shirt.17th next season?

Looks like a good spot Toon,I'd consider a season ticket for the bairns if they made a song & dance about it.

I meant Grandbairns.Forgot about the baby, she scored a beautiful goal earlier & hugged the post

Well, parliament is going to debate whether safe standing can be allowed in the top 2 divisions on June 25th. Hopefully it'll have MP's interested and attract more than the usual hand full of fossils that debate these type of things that take 100,000 peoples votes to get noticed.

The inquisitive side of me says that this seems a perfect time for them to bury this and get it thrown out as it's taking place on the same day as 4 World Cup games.

Shame about safe standing, would be quite funny watching 25 year old's learning to deal with surges and staying on their feet.
