SAFE STANDING PETITION NEEDS ONE FINAL PUSH

Good God that debate was boring. The eyes had it at the end though. Unfortunately I'd drifted off by that point so I'm not sure what the eyes had - I'm guessing agreement for more debate?

I'll find a report from somebody who was paying attention in a minute lol

The Football Association has lent its support to safe standing at football grounds in England if there is "clear evidence that satisfies authorities".

The Premier League and EFL have also said they would support clubs' choice to install safe standing in the top two tiers of English football.

Slightly qualified support from the FA, but things are hopefully moving in the right direction. The government seem pretty keen on "the will of the people" over Brexit, so maybe they will come to feel the same way about this.

People stand every week in away ends all over the country. In the lower leagues home fans stand. The days of people penned in like dogs and the horrors of hysel an Hillsborough will never happen again. Rail standing is a no brainer and it will happen in England.

"Wycombe have become the first English club to install seating which allows fans the choice to stand or sit without blocking the view of others.

Sixty-eight '2020 seats' have been fitted in the Family Stand at Adams Park by the League One club."

They can't use them yet but "the 2020 seats meet revised guidelines produced by the Sports Grounds Safety Authority (SGSA).

Their design also complies with the current government all-seater stadium policy and could lead to more clubs introducing similar safe-standing initiatives."
