Sacha Baron Cohen

Thought this week's episode was the weakest one so far. First episode had its moments, last week's was very good, but personally I found this week's one a bit disappointing.

None of the politicians involved really fell for anything, and while it was unbelievable how stupid some people like those in the Quinceañera part can be, I'm not sure how far "ordinary" members of the public should be considered fair game for a setup like that.

I thought his portrayal of Ali G years ago on the Channel 4 programme 'the 11 o'clock show' with Iain Lee and Rosy Donovan was the apogee of his comedy. Small chunks, the Staines massive and a bit more were good. That was the programme that launched Ricky Gervais.

If you want to watch him taking the mick out of dumb hicks then he did plenty of that with Borat and Bruno. Don't particularly have a problem with the show (why would I, haven't seen it) it's just a symptom of something in modern entertainment that irks me, doing the same thing over and over to diminishing returns.

When the Ali G sketch was only 5 minutes long and he was relatively unknown then there was a certain amusement to the whole thing. When the format concept is stretched over 30 minutes or a film then I find the humour gets spread too thin.

I've only seen a few clips on the adverts, but if Borat is anything to go by, there are certain psychology tricks that can be used effectively when a camera is in the room and people are aware of it. If you are aware of the rodeo scene in Borat when everyone is singing an anti-Jew song, from a psychological defense trait, you will find most people singing it are only doing so because everyone else is and don't wish to be seen as outside the group.

Re the anti Jew song and those just going along with the group.

I was reading up on his rationale last night and he said that a major concern was how apathy and going along with the group allows racism to flourish. This is the point he was making when getting these people to behave in such a way. So well done him and sadly it took me making a special effort to realise this (shame on me for not getting it).

It's not just the outright racists we should beware of. All of us should avoid he slippery slope.

Pity the Germans in the 30s didn't make a special effort as you have done. Like VG, they were easily led.

Very unfair on the Germans.

Even if as a person you are aware of these things, someone who understands the physiology of how the average person thinks can easily manipulate the masses. In the case of the Nazis, the average citizen at the time would have had no notion they were being manipulated over a decade and by the time it was noticeable from outside Germany, everyone went along with it because they saw everyone else did.

You have to remember the Hitler Youth was set up in the early 1920s and the children had no reason to question the indoctrination they were receiving. By the time Hitler's Youth became adults they were fully brainwashed.

Think it doesn't happen and you only have to see how people are being nudged into the cashless society or believing computer run cashiers in supermarkets is a good thing.

That's bollocks and I think you meant psychology or did you?

Are you really naming and shaming check out machines as natzis? If so I take offence, I am sure the ones in our local Tesco metro are of good character.

Why are you so thick ffs? Corbyn is no more anti-semtic than you. The problem is that those who criticise the actions of the zionist state are labelled anti-semitic, which is unjust. You're only a fan of Israel because of their stance on muslims; otherwise, I doubt you could care less about them.
