Lots of talk about which players will be staying or leaving but until we know Gary Rowett’s plans it’s all a tad pointless.
Personally I hope he stays and it will be a sad indictment of the state of Derby County if he chooses Stoke City over us.
What can’t be allowed to happen though is that this drags on.
We’ve been here before too often. Billy Davies blamed the play off delay in preventing us from building a decent squad for our last doomed tilt at the top flight.
Allowing Nigel Clough to remain before McClaren took over early in the 2013-14 season did us no favours at all and the indecision between McClaren being replaced by Clement cost us dearly.
Rowett must know where he wants to be and interest from Stoke can’t be allowed to become a bargaining tool as seemed to be the case last January.
So...I hope he stays...at least for another season, but if there’s indecision then that’s not good enough. Commitment starts from the top down. If Rowett can’t show that commitment then it’s time to go now...not in a few weeks time.
That way we have a chance to bring in the right leader and give him the chance to to pick the players to fit his playing style.

It is now 2 or 3 days since this rumour surfaced. I agree, GR should, if he isn't interested, come out and say so NOW.

BD did indeed blame the playoff delay but seemed to have forgotten that, after the match and the parade he went off on holiday for 2, or was it 3, weeks. Time in which most of the decent players we might have wanted and could have afforded had already gone elsewhere. I will also add that Earnshaw was sourced and signed by the board over BD's head. That was wht BD didn't play him regularly.

But the point is MA...we’re in danger of doing it all again.
BD was a ****wit who, imo, blamed anything except his own inadequacy but you do have to act quickly to get the best deals and the missing pieces of the ‘jigsaw’.
We’re already hamstrung by the overbloated contract merchants...last thing we want is a manager playing...’should he stay or should he go now’.
I like and respect Rowett but those feelings will rapidly disappear if he starts behaving like McClaren. The planning for next season should already have begun.

Rowett has just signed a new contract hasn't he recently? So making a sideways move to Stoke can't be in his best interests surely?

I just hope, as been said, this isn't dragged out over the Summer, it is a distraction and does no one any good in the long run. Hopefully, Rowett has plenty of ideas what he wants and needs to do to get us up and running from the start of next season and can sort out the Annual slide after Christmas.

Rowett did sign a new improved contract in January, Bloomer...the last time Stoke came sniffing around.
The problem is, I believe, Peter Coates at SCFC makes Mel look like a relative pauper and with parachute payments in addition their purchasing power is currently a lot greater.
This is why I’d like a show of loyalty and commitment and absolutely no pontificating from GR.

RA you can hardly expect Rowett to comment on speculation for Stoke to then turn round and say he wasn't even under consideration Its only paper talk until somebody puts in a request to speak to him That's unlikely to happen being he has turn them down before Anyway it looks likely Mcarthy will get the job

Regardless of whether McCarthy is the new favourite, mista, I’d just like Rowett to say words to the effect of...’it’s very flattering to be linked with another club but I’m contracted to Derby County and that’s where I’ll be for as long as they want me’.
Make a nice change and put a few minds at rest...just end the speculation.

Just read on another forum that John Percy has reported in the DET that talks are ongoing and a "fee" of £2.25M for Rowett is on the table.

As reported there, JP is the "fat lady" of DCFC reporting. It would appear this rumour has some substance and that we are looking for a new manager. Preferably one who doesn't wear sh*t trainers :grinning:

yes agree it would be nice for the ones who want him to stay But quite a lot want him gone Not me i think he's the right man for the job

Stability is the key for success and we have had precious little of that over the last decade or so.

There is no loyalty in football any more and money is king as per usual, so Stoke may think they are on to a winner but history shows that sides coming down from the Premier League don't always bounce, so it will be interesting to see just which way Rowett jumps.View attachment 27050

He's going no doubt about that I wanted him to stay But they come and go but my worst case scenario is Mel will take the easy option and give the job to Wassall If that happens I've got two South Stand season tickets going for free if anybody wants them I won't be wasting time and money going all over the country backing a Wassall team

Fair enough Gary...if you want to speak to them then you can sod off now as far as I’m concerned.
You were given a chance, provided with a big rise, backed by the owner and this is how you repay his and our support.
I always respected you as a player and thought you were the right man for the job at Derby but apparently not.
I didn’t believe the rumours about your alleged lack of integrity at Birmingham but now I’m afraid I do.
So however the talks go you’re yesterday’s news to me...let’s move on and discuss who’s next to feature in the managerial roundabout that has become Derby County.

Don't know what the fuss is about. This is the best news so far ,just couldn't stand watching his style of play for another season
Hope he takes the majority of the squad with him
Lets exploit the loan market better and tap into europe
