Rotherham United (h): Interviews, Score Predictions, Starting XI & Match Thread

Turgid stuff !

Why we went into the start of the season with that forward line is beyond me.

Having said that, BC today was the only one who had any idea and he was taken off !! BC will score goals with service but we are devoid of any service and quality.

At times we were playing with 10 men, in terms of the forwards. Long balls were not headed, so why do it. Surely Street has more to offer!

Why was Moylan taken off ? Strange !!

We are not going anywhere !

Turgid !

Hortin announce that Moylan was expected to do the player post-match interview. A few minutes later he changed this to Hamilton. Something's occurring in the dressing room?

I don’t like sacking a manager, feels like an easy way out and making excuses for others faults.

I also don’t blame Skubala for the first 65 mins today - unless his instructions were ‘don’t bother looking, just hoof the ball and if a pass isn’t to your feet then stand there and watch it.’

But those subs were horrendous - Cadamarteri was our hardest working player today and created a couple of chances and we took him off for a young immobile striker who got outdone by experienced cb’s.

Moylan is our only player who can create something out of nothing - and we took him off when we had nothing.

I’m not in the Skubala out camp yet because I don’t think the blame is entirely in on him. Players need to take accountability and step up.

But something has to change - because I don’t want to use my ticket on Saturday.

Not in the skubala out camp but something has to change ? so we give him time to do what change the tactic hes used since coming in ? buy new players ? he needs to go now.

What a disaster.

We are in free fall in the moment and the team needs to turn things around. Hard to see where the next win or even goal is coming from at the moment.

For me there was zero positivities from that game at all. I can’t even recall one good quality passage of play all game. Wickens was having a good game until he decided to come for a ball that he didn’t reach resulting in their goal. Simply, you have to make contact with the ball if your decision is to come for that.

McGrandles was ok off the ball but not good enough on it, but he wasn’t the only one. All round the passing was poor, control was poor and even the long balls were poorly directed. We our so reliant on Erahon for control in midfield and when he does eventually lose we will be a significantly weaker team.

I have no idea what we were trying to do to score today. What is our intended style of play? What happened to the fast starts? What happened to the effective press? What happened to the effect set pieces? What happened to our intent? We have no pace and look very isolated in forward areas.
It felt like we came out for a 0-0 against a frankly very poor Rotherham team. Unfortunately they were better than us and got a deserved win. Also worry was our odd substitution selections, Bailey and Moylan were arguably the two players that looked most likely to make something happen. There are a couple of players that we are persisting with I don’t think are quite good enough. The defence did ok for the most part (though looked shaky) but the creativity and attacking intent was as a blunt as they come. We never looked like scoring and feels like we made no changes to our tactics to try and make a real impact on the game.

Ref made the game even more frustrating and start stop, which normally I would say plays into Rotherham’s hand, but today probably helped us because of how poor we were on the ball. Ref blew up for any form of contact, but unfortunately missed the push leading up to their goal.

We’ve known it for a few weeks but as each game goes by it reinforces how big of a job we have this January to address the issues we have. We have to bring in an additional centre back. We need more creative players and we need someone who can put the ball in the net. We are still crying out for more pace in the team, something, we have been missing for a good while now and failed to address.

I’ll be there on Saturday praying we can pull something out of the bag.

I am not Skubala out camp, yet. But we have been stuck in a malaise for a while and only seem to have an (extended) up when a new manager comes in and works with what he has inherited. We then slump when some of the players have been bought for that manager. That points to a problem with recruitment for me.

I don't understand why Jez George isn't getting more scrutiny than he is. To me the problem is the players brought in the summer aren't good enough to play the football consistently we were all promised and he (albeit not exclusively) is responsible for a lot of the recruitment side of things.

Also, it can't be a coincidence can it that twice in a row (under Mark Kennedy and now under Skubala) we're playing this sort of direct stuff. I used to think Kennedy didn't want to play it on the floor (despite saying he would) but now I'm not so sure....

I'm not in the Skubala out camp as I think he's a decent coach and a good January/upturn in results will make things look very different!

Last 15 games, 13 points. One league win in over two months. Would put us in a relegation spot place based on the last 15 league games.

The board aren’t known for making knee jerk reactions but they have funded for a play off push this season, so I expect them to not be particularly happy.

Back to square one. I mean 12 months ago we were in the same place weren't we ? Toothless with nothing up front. Nothing changed. We wasted one year and a lot of money on players like Street etc. and still have nothing to offer up front. What's the point...? Someone (Skubala) needs to be responsible for that. Talking bulls... about play offs but dragging us into relegation. For me he can leave even tonight. We won't miss much. Maybe someone else should go into January window as he can't be trust...

Shocking going forward. Absolutely awful. Sunday league stuff at times.

Poor Rotherham under Evans doing double on us. Skubala should ashamed.

Shrewsbury, bottom of the table with 12 points, no clean sheet in 16 games, L0-1.
Bolton, 8 points from their last 7 games, L0-3.
Rotherham, ONE away win since November 2022, L0-1.

Roll up, roll up, get your points here!
We are the breaker of bad runs!

whether it’s players mindsets or coaching techniques.

In terms of where the squads lacking - that should be well under way, and will likely have been done to suit how Skubala wants us to play (which I don’t believe is how we are playing).

My concern about firing managers is that we’ll become like other clubs - hire someone, get 6 months of bounce, 6 months of dross, fire and repeat. It’s rare you’ll make solid progress as a club with that mindset.
