Ross Kemp Fight Against ISIS

The Fear

A Wise Man (once sat next to him)
Very interesting documentary by Ross Kemp on Sky1 catch up

People in Iraq and Syria fighting against DAESH terrorists.

Real people, muslims, being enslaved, children sold or used for sex, raped etc.

Muslims suffering not causing the suffering, the suffering is from the terrorists.

I do wish there was more stuff like this on tv showing how normal Muslims are suffering just the same as normal people in places within Africa are suffering in the name of another religion.

Damn. I was hoping Ross Kemp was going to arm himself to the teeth and go in Rambo style against ISIS.

It certainly is more complicated than mere religion. There is a power struggle in the region, and religion is used as a tool. These terrorists are just evil people.

There is no quick fix, and I am actually quite surprised that the US, and the UK, haven't gone overboard with troops in the region. We've just got to let the situation sort itself out, and just back them where they need it.

Personally I think the situation with ISIS is so serious that I would cautiously support intervention by us, but only if we were committed to stay around after to make sure that peace has a chance, and that could mean decades. One point Chilcott made was that one of the reasons that Iraq was a mess after the war was our rush to leave the country and a lack of commitment to support the Iraqi government.

Hope, as Ross says, that the Kurds don't get forgotten (again) for the fight against ISIS

I still can't quite belief the United Nations (or a unity of nations as the UN seem useless) to get into countries like Iraq and fix what they need, ie running water, electricity, sanitation etc. Many nations were quick enough to go in and break these things!

Glad to see you have unfrozen the thread! People tend to forget that the suffering is also going on in the countries where the origins started. It is an everyday occurrence. Exactly the same as what in the Ireland troubles. They suffered everyday too

Unfortunately the UN is a nice idea, but it is absolutely no use at all. When has the UN ever achieved anything?

Yeah, I don't really mean specifically the UN... just can't see how a group of countries can't form a coalition to offer help to this failed state, get the basics right for their people and then see if that has helped in the fight against the extremists ie helping every day normal people to just have the basics.

Aye... but at the moment no one is profiting as they all left the country due to security concerns.

The contracts won't have disappeared though nor the initial payments - well maybe they have disappeared lol

Mike is right. ISIS have internet and telephone communication. They have food. They buy pick up trucks and the parts and diesel to run them. Without help from Turkey, they would vanish. The idology would remain though.

I'm not talking about ISIS, I'm talking about getting into the failed state and finish what we started. Provide normal every day people with light, heating, water. 'We' took it from them, 'we' created the power vacuum.
