Rosenior Turns Us Down - Initially

Vital Football Legend
Blackpool have been looking for a new manager since Neil Critchley left to become an assistant to Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.

The Championship side had zeroed in on Rosenior and put an offer to him to take charge as Critchley’s successor at Bloomfield Road.

Rosenior though has turned down Blackpool’s offer as it stands, with talks taking place about the squad budget and training ground issues.

He most recently met with Blackpool on Tuesday, following on from being interviewed.

If Blackpool make a new offer which is to Rosenior’s liking then the club would have to pay Derby County £300,000 in compensation to appoint him.

Rosenior has been assistant boss at Derby since 2020, stepping up from a role as first team coach at the Rams that he took a year earlier under Phillip Cocu.

As a player, Rosenior notably turned out for Fulham, Reading and Hull City, before ending his career at Brighton.

He is the wrong choice. He will be off faster than a ferret up a trouser legs if he has a

modicum of success and a better opportunity arises.

Interesting that as his first gig he is setting out some demands.
He isn't impressed by the squad- he will be the one developing it ffs.
The training ground issues and resolution are well documented.
Wonder if he's happier staying with a club in hock and up to their eyes in debt and not paying wages rather than come to us.
Doesn't sound like a good fit if true and if he does accept it with assurances then he won't have got off to a everyone pulling together start

Gazette headline:

Blackpool quash reports that Derby County assistant Liam Rosenior has been offered head coach job
Blackpool have denied reports that Derby County assistant Liam Rosenior has turned down the chance to become their new head coach.

Dog's dinner this

Strange you mention the word "dog" Hasty but personally, I thought it was more of a Dog's Breakfast. It seems we could still engage him if we up the Ante. I think we should send in our specialist negotiator Bear, with haste, on his high seated Tangers folding push bike with ferret in tow, to sort it all out. :grinning:

Holloway would take us down. The game has moved on . He is a busted flush and this is not to take away from the wonderful moments he gave us. The role of sports science and analysis is now incredibly important.

Is that why we collapsed against Forest and finished on a low not a lot of science there we needed inspiration not science.

Whilst Holloway was successful here Prem you do have to remember it was 12 years ago now the promotion.

The game has changed a lot and he has hardly set the world alight in his last roles.

Think he is happy at home more and doing Talksport/Sky etc.

As for Rosenior god only knows what’s going on but it’s becoming a PR mess yet again, similar to last time. Then again if he genuinely hasn’t been offered the role yet and the papers are talking bollocks then that’s not much the club can do but there’s no smoke without fire as they say.

I do like the thought of Holloway too Prem but I'm afraid Bear and Luke are likely to be correct. He could well be a busted flush.

This is becoming increasingly frustrating for us all and probably including the selection team and SS.

Liam Rosenior's father Leroy admits his son and Blackpool were impressed with one another during discussions for the Seasiders' head coach job but hinted the links to current side Derby County would make it difficult to make a move.

Rosenior last met with the club on June 14 for a second time, before Appleton returned for a third time on June 15, as reported by Lancs Live, and was outlined as the number one choice for the Head Coach role. Reports of budget and training ground issues halting Rosenior taking up the role via the Telegraph, which Blackpool denied, are understood to have been wide of the mark.

What a load of nonsense. He was on his toes quick enough from Brighton. No emotional attachment to Derby not been there that long
