Tottenham will resist any offers for Danny Rose as they prepare for interest in the left-back.

Manchester United and Inter Milan are said to be ready to make an approach for Rose but Spurs have made it clear the 27-year-old is not for sale.

Tottenham have assured head coach Mauricio Pochettino he will not be forced to sell any of his players and that stance has not shifted.

Spurs have allowed Kyle Walker to join Manchester City for £50million this summer and losing both full-backs would be a significant blow for Pochettino.

Rose signed a five-year contract last summer worth around £70,000 a week.

The England full-back will miss the start of the new season with a knee injury but he is close to a return to full training.

Manchester United have shown interest in Rose with Jose Mourinho set to play Daley Blind at left-back against Real Madrid in the Uefa Super Cup. Matteo Darmian often played in that position for United last season and it is an area Mourinho may look to strengthen.

Inter Milan tracked Rose last season. The Serie A side are keen admirers of the defender, who has become one of the best full-backs in the Premier League

Spurs

While a return back up north may have appealed to Danny Rose some time ago, the England international's progression at Spurs could well see him remain in the capital.

Rose has been a standout player under Mauricio Pochettino and it comes as no surprise to see him linked with a move to both Manchester United and Inter Milan.

According to reports this morning, the Red Devils could potentially make a bid for the 27-year-old before the transfer window shuts, despite originally lining up a move for him next summer.

Rose is still currently on the sidelines due to a knee problem, yet Jose Mourinho is believed to be very interested in bringing the Doncaster-born player back up north this month.

However, after admitting in an interview last season that his loan spell at Sunderland was the happiest time in his career as he moved closer to home, Rose spoke of possibly remaining with Spurs until he retires back in September.

The left-back, speaking to the club website after signing a new contract, said: "I'm settled here. I'm slowly turning into a southerner!

"I'll be here until I'm 31 and at the moment, I couldn't wish for anything more than to play for Spurs for the rest of my career.

"Everyone knows that the club is going in the right direction and I'm over the moon that I've earned a new contract that will keep me here until I'm an old man!"

Given the player struggled with life in London after moving from Leeds United as a 16-year-old, Rose is now settled and a return closer to home looks less likely.

After spending the 2012/13 season on loan with Sunderland, Rose has credited Pochettino and chairman Daniel Levy for helping him feel more settled in the capital.

"It was hard when I first moved down to Essex and Tottenham, I was going home every chance I could," added Rose.

"I wasn't playing regularly and it's only been the last three or four years where I've felt more settled, more part of the club and part of the team and I'm loads happier. The manager has had a lot to do with that and so has the chairman, to be fair.

"I'm settled, I love living down south and funnily enough, when I get the chance to go back home to Doncaster, I don't go back too much now. I would never have thought that when I first moved down here."

As appealing as a move to Manchester United is, Rose's new-found fondness for life in the south, as well as the fact Spurs are now challenging for major honours, could well keep him in north London for the rest of his career.

Walker going put a "we are open for business" sign on the door if we like it or not.

As if what a player says in the Press means anything!

Worst of all for us was Campbell. Right up until he left, he was still giving interviews saying that he wanted to stay when he knew that was not true.

I said ages ago that I'd sell Rose instead of Walker, Rose likes an injury too much, always misses big chunks of a season.

Sell him anyway , just pretend he's still on the payroll but out 'injured' , what's the difference apart from we get 50 mil?

50 mil for Rose ? I think I would take it but only if the money was used for players. At 27 and his injury record I would be tempted. Another injury strewn season and his value will drop.

There are plenty of good full backs around these days. That's why I'm not as worried about them being linked away.

The only concern is will we spend the money generated by the sale? So far we haven't with Walkers fee so makes you wonder.

What I don't get, is why would he do this now? He is injured, he knows we won't sell this summer - why risk the fallout in a year before an international tournament?

Plenty of good replacements, although we missed out on Sessegnon. Ricardo Rodriguez was sold for 13 million this summer just as an example.

He is 27 with no medals and being paid less than he feels he is worth in comparison to what big clubs would pay. Plus he wants to go north.

Problem is we won't act, we will leave it to the last minute and miss out on a decent replacement and then Hope Davies isn't injured till Jan (when we hardly do business)

At the moment Davies is potentially our LB and CB cover - we can't lose another defender without incomings

Jan can play LB but it's disruption of the best CB pairing in the PL.

Then we have Dier at CB who isn't a very good CB, Wimmer who isn't wanted or CCV who isn't ready.

Putting a strain on the squad for no reason

From Twitter:

Tottenham's results following Danny Rose's injury last season:
Played: 20
Won: 15
Drawn: 1
Lost: 4

Seems like the team is doing fine without him.

20 games out due to injury, it could have been 30-40 if it happened earlier in the season.
