Rory McIlroy has hit back at criticism that he spends too much time lifting weights in the gym.

He was also on SSN earlier stating that his change in diet and his training regime equated to an upturn in his fortunes on the gold course

Nice one Rory

Maybe other golfers, pro and amateur will realise that it helps to actually look after yourself :35:

How bizarre. Was talking to a guy today at the gym. He was about 55, had had a few knee problems, started some training (I actually showed him how to do some better form and tensing his muscles, slowing down etc) and some upper body work and he's finding his game (there is a golf course at this place) has improved dramatically and his knee pain all but gone.

Surely, Rory isn't the first. Tiger Woods did this years ago, and even Lee Westwood does a massive amount of fitness work.

It would certainly help my game.

He did, it is mentioned in the link piece as a warning!

(Psst! Rory is Deano's golf god, so I'm hoping it might encourage him, but don't tell him : )
