If you like Bat Out of Hell you should check out Bad for Good which was supposed to be Meatloaf's follow up album written by Jim Steinman and featuring himself on vocals. Lot's of the tracks on that make it onto Bat Out of Hell II,

"Love and Death and an American Guitar" is just bats**t insane (pun intended) and "Dance in my Pants" is a truly awful, awful song but the rest of it is Jim Steinman doing what he did best, Rock and Roll as opera...

I guess Heaven Can't Wait...
 
As well as writing 'Bat' he originally toured with Meat Loaf (on keys), until it all took off and he wanted to return to other projects.

A very individual writer with layers and layers of, rich, grand Gothic excess. Wonderful stuff.
 
I often wonder how some of these musicians lived as long as they did, with the copious amounts of drugs they were taking - or maybe that's the secret.
