Never had the opportunity to see him play live but from footage without doubt the finest goalkeeper England has ever produced. Best ever keeper could be disputed by supporters of Yashin but a giant of the game, the like of which won't grace our game again.

Laid to rest today. Joe Anyon was one of four goalkeepers who acted as pall-bearers, along with Joe Hart, Jack Butland and Kasper Schmeichel.

And a guard of honour provided by 16 Sig Regt amongst others, as he did his national service as a dispatch rider in the Royal Corps of Signals.

Saw him play a few times , the best this country has ever produced . How the buggary bollocks he was never knighted is beyond me . Now a days yo can ger a knighthood for winninf a few cycle races , three tennis grand slams , even an honour for scoring a few penalties . total disgrace
