A ridiculous post match conference from Steve Bruce who appears to be growing a massive chip on his shoulder. Having a go at fans, CEO and owner for crisis?

he's done it before, Sunderland

I've tried, I've really tried, to get behind Bruce and give him some slack. But I am totally sick and tired of his post-match nonsense. After 850-odd games as a manager, how is it that he can so badly read the mood of the fans?

We are far from 'going along nicely' and we are not 'in crisis' - what is his obsession with that word? We are playing very poorly (still) and have had a shocking December, a month when we really needed to kick on and consolidate in the top 6. Forgive me for not singing from the rooftops Steve.

I am furious that he treats the fans with such contempt. The sooner he is gone, the better for me. It's starting to feel like David O'Leary all over again.

yep it will be "we are down to the bare bones" and the "sugar bags" stuff soon,

For an ex man utd player where even a draw is a crisis , he should Know better , the expectation here is the same , We are the Man Utd of the championship . He knows this as he harps on about us Being "Aston Villa "
If you can't handle it Steve do us all a favour and feck off

You are missing the point Bruce.

We have watched 8 seasons of shite to be honest, yet we still turn up home and away - we even gave Lambert 3 seasons before finally losing our minds.

The odd result here or there doesn’t bother us anymore, we have suffered for seasons and been humiliated at times along the way.

Yet here we are, still filling away ends and 35k last home game.

What we would like to see Bruce, is progression.

Can we pass the ball to each other ? Do we have competent set pieces and a pattern of play ? Can the players move into space so other players can find them ?

The fans, owner or whoever are perfectly correct in questioning your Management as in my opinion we are terrible to watch and failing with this squad - you are paid handsomely and are privileged to be here, so treat the club with more respect or fuck off.

Yes , it read this as a turning point in his relationship with the fans.

Most fans aren't fools , they have watched football for years and years and to treat them as if they know nothing about football is folly in my view.

Keith wyness reacted to the unacceptable run of results , so did Dr xia , so did the fans. Mr bruce is setting himself up nicely to snuggle back on the Sky sofa with all his mates telling him how wonderful he is. As we know , these forums are monitored and we have some top end people in charge now restructuring and rebuilding this club , a shitty result and clueless performance against Brazil city and he's gone.

Utterly unacceptable comments from the manager. I wanted him here and am quite happy to accept pragmatism over entertainment if it gets us up - but it is a two way street and if Bruce’s ‘methods’ are not delivering on the pitch then he will leave himself open to (justified) criticism.

Second time he’s opted to show disdain to the fans now rather than a bit of class. Big mistake, just ask David O’Leary.

Fed up.

Fed up with the constant lurching from one thing to another. Fed up with constant disconnect between fans and the manager, between fans and the players, between fans and the hierarchy. Fed up with the injuries.
Actually fed up with hearing, reading, analysing everything within an inch of its life on social media .

Avfc is no different to many many clubs. Football in 2017 is bollox and not fun and I wish I wasn't interested.

As for what he said. I understand if people take offence and wrong place wrong time etc. Me, maybe I am thick skinned but I couldn't give a damn what Bruce thinks of me as a fan. Crack on and say what you like I will be here long after you.

But he is entirely correct in one thing and it goes back to what I said in the first bit above. Sooner or later we have to move forward together. There is a disconnect between fans and the club AGAIN and we will not get ANYWHERE if this carries on. I get the reaction about what Bruce said. But it is everything nowadays. Look at the knickers in twist some got into over JT watching Chelsea the other week. My point being it doesn't take alot to be outraged over not alot nowadays. And its very wearing . Fed up.
Btw not telling anyone how they should and shouldn't react to what he said. Understand the reaction. I just want the club to move forward together. If the reaction from fans on here is the same as fans in general then we are in deep shit for the rest of the season.

Happy New year.

Don't think there's a disconnect between the fans and the club, far from it. It doesn't mean that the fans don't have worries; they do. But no more than that. The overall relationship is a good one.

Steve is the odd man out. At a personal level he's probably OK. As a manager, he is excuse-ridden, blames others when things aren't going well, and turns nasty when fans dare to suggest we have a serious problem. I think the club is too big for him. I want him out of the club before things sour too much. I'm glad we won yesterday, but there's too many negative things in the mix.

I am disappointed in Steve Bruce with his comments after the Borough game, why he just cannot ignore all the vitriol aimed at him on most sites he should at least be above that & be able to keep turning the other cheek. We all wish we could be running away with the league,
in reality it is not a simple job from the position we were in also I don't think we have had the best of luck with injuries. I am for one not ready to rock the boat & let Steve Bruce get on & do his job, he should have some players come back from injury soon also he has a new attacking coach in Agnew, so just a thought hold back a bit to see how we fair at the end of season, hopefully it is a return to the premiership

Villan57 - 31/12/2017 12:02

yep it will be "we are down to the bare bones" and the "sugar bags" stuff soon,

He said it yesterday - ' I had four 19-year-olds on the bench today, so we are down to the bare bones'.

Actually he had 3 19 year olds on the bench, so he couldn't even get that right. Obviously Bree never a birthday card off him.

He also said Boro must have seven players of 6'4" - well he got that wrong too. Gestede is 6'4", Randolph,Shotton & Ayala are 6'3". The average height of the 14 who appeared for Boro was just over 6' which is pretty amazing.

I don't consider myself a keyboard warrior - don't post much and never called for any manager to go. But this strikes me as a manager who is going bonkers. He's inadvertently admitted the win was down to pure luck. His tried and tested options were not available to him so he was forced into playing talented players rather than his cronies. And we won. But then he gets very defensive and weird about it.

So don't get lifted by having RHM and Grealish playing good football. They'll soon be shown the door by Whelan, Gabby and the rest of Bruce's substandard gang.

I just think that he gives poor interviews, end of. Managers cant all be fluent when a mike is pushed under their noses. Probably best he says nothing because it always seems to come out wrong.
Yes the football is shit, the entertainment levels are shit, and is it value for money? no it isnt.
All that said yes we have had a "crisis" month but we are still in the mix with hopefully some of our injured begining to come back.
I understand how many feel about him and hes only got himself to blame for that, but three points tomorrow and we could maybe be back in business again.

Pretty sure most villa fans would have been more worried by the sight of Bjanarsson on the bench than 4 youngsters. And perhaps Mr Bruce might be able to remember who it was who signed James Bree in the 1st place, who was it that spent 4m on a teenager only for him to become our 4th choice right back?

He, Steve Bruce, the manager of Aston Villa FC, had, at some point in the build up to the Middlesboro game, let it be known that we were 9 first team players short.
I would love to know who the 9 were.
