I didn't know that two-ton apparently announced his retirement from all football last month.
I always had a soft spot for him so thank you Richard and I wish you all the best.

I think all City fans did and that that Cook treated him poorly when he went to Villa. He hold the record (besides 10 own goals) for consecutive player of the season for City making 352 appearances for City in all competitions, City Captain of course and scored 7 goals.

rumour has it he is looking to the MLS to sign him, but I wish him well in whatever he does and of course he will always be a welcome back at the Etihad

A goo solidd player for us over many years, loved a drink, but did his job on the field and continued to play well for Villa also for some time. I wish him well now that his football has ceased at the top level in the UK.

I remember he once said that in his early days the only job he was fully "qualified" for was a barman.

A great servant to the club for sure. If I recall he did have drink related discipline problems in the early days under Keegan but he seemed to heed the advice he was given, sorted himself out and enjoyed a decent career as a professional footballer. wish him all the best whatever choice he makes about his future.

He was almost sacked by City for his drinking back then Skoorb, thankfully he got a bit of sense and what a remarkable turnaround he made.

Indeed. Many don't listen, waste their talent and sacrifice a golden opportunity so credit to the guy for turning things around and achieving such great records for the club in terms of appearances and player of the season awards. Let's not dwell on the own goals (although they could be a testament to how he was always making the effort to cover for his colleagues!)
