Armand Gnanduillet has returned to Blackpool on an initial one-year deal, plus an option for a further year.
The forward, whose contract expired last month, had initially agreed to join South African side Baroka FC for the new season, though was never registered as a player due to the club exceeding its foreign player quota.
That led to the 26-year-old holding discussions with manager Gary Bowyer and requesting a return to Bloomfield Road.
“Armand contacted me and said that there had been a situation in South Africa where it hadn’t all gone according to plan and asked would we be interested,” Bowyer explained.
“Fortunately, we were, and as a result of that we’ve been able to bring him back. We offered him a contract in the first place and we didn’t want to miss him.
“We were disappointed when he left because he was making progress in terms of how we see him and how we want him to play. Hopefully he can build on that now and continue to show the form and improvements we know he’s capable of.”
The Frenchman, who first signed for Blackpool from Leyton Orient in August 2016, scored five goals in 31 appearances last season.

Correct decision for both player a club. He is very useful and I can see him getting even better if he has the right service. Very pleasing news.
