Its good news at last, the determination of Championship clubs to finish the season has finally been given the green light.
Under government guidelines, they have decided on Sat June 20 as the date Championship football will return, bearing in mind many players contracts will now expire on July 31 instead of June 30, after a one month extension was granted.
Clubs have agreed to rush through the remaining nine games of the programme in five Saturdays and four mid-week slots to finish on July 18, leaving just enough time to complete the play-offs.
Yesterday was a big step forward for Championship clubs with the resumption of training. Players having already signed a 47 page dossier of protocols surrounding social distancing at the training ground and the first round of blanket virus testing completed in time for a return to action.
