UEFA has named Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir to officiate Tuesday night’s Champions League semi-final first leg game between Manchester City and Real Madrid.

The officials for the match at the Etihad are all members of the Turkish UEFA Elite Association.

Born in Istanbul, the 39-year-old insurance agent lives with his wife in the city from which he was born.
 
Mario's mate, he's also the ref that sent Nani off against Real in controversial circumstances.

Cuneyt - great name, and one you simply could not make up. Even his surname could be a baking reference so I'm putting everything I own on Mr Kipling in the 7:45 race at Eastlands on Tuesday.

 
Rated World's third best ref, so we should be OK. Just hope the ref does not spoil the result with a dud decision or two.
