Police are hunting racist thugs who broke into a mosque early this morning and scrawled Nazi swastikas on the walls and windows.

The vile graffiti was spotted at Redditch Central Mosque in Worcestershire by officers who were investigating reports of a break-in at the place of worship at 4.30am.

The yobs are believed to have broken into the site, which is under construction, some time after 2am by forcing a gate before using paint from a builders' cabin to spray the hateful messages

fear and myself were discussing it yesterday on facebook and basically came up to the conclusion that who ever done this was very stupid and ill educated, not saying which side done this (think about it .... as both have agendas) but who ever ordered it to be done is one of those who will arm the bullets whilst telling the young and stupid to fire them, all the time knowing he wont be the one getting done if caught.

Sadly, it is all going to kick off at some point.

Such a shame us humans are so silly really!

can see it kicking off in other parts of the country, but not redditch as generally people just get on with life no matter who you are. i use the local take aways now and then (ones possible the best kebab house going, much better then the brum ones) have a banter about the cricket as well as life in general.

even chatting to what you would call slightly old fashioned guys last night, they are were against the mosque till i pointed out its a much better place then the present one on easemore road when on a friday the whole road is blocked and buses cant get through.

As part of the Aston Heritage day last Saturday the mosque at the top of Trinity Road was open. I had never been in a mosque before so I took the opportunity to go and have a look. Was made very welcome and it was good to learn a bit more about how their religion works etc. When I got home I decided to do a bit of research on the place and found out it used to be called the Saddam Hussain mosque. Apparently he gave them £2 mil to build it. When he fell out with the west and we went to war against him they decided to very quickly change the name. Nothing good can possibly come from a few mindless idiots carrying out these sort of attacks and they need to be dealt with. I think we could all benefit from more intergration and really getting to know how others communities live. Tolerance comes from understanding. A lesson for us all I think. One last thing if you do get the opportunity to visit a mosque its well worth it.

Totally agree with this. I hadn't been inside a mosque before, until a recent trip to Istanbul. They are magnificent buildings and the interiors are spectacular. I was given a booklet to read on Islam, whilst inside, and in general its a peaceful religion, which is being hijacked by fundamentalist nutters. Islam, Christianity and Judaism all share the same God.

What a great post. If only the World had more people like you out there. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us.

Agreed about more integration. That does work both ways and some communities are incredibly close knit.

It is a lovely dream, from what I've seen, it will remain just that, because as I have said many times, mankind is very stupid.

Man seems to look for all the differences in other cultures instead of the many many similarities.

It doesn't mean we should stop trying, though. I think the Muslim communities are starting to wake up to their problems. The least we can do is get to know them better when they do open their doors.

Totally agree heathfield.

I can still remember growing up in Four Oaks the first black, the first Asian and the first Chinese people to join our school. They were the first of 'their sort' (sorry, can't think of a better way to word it, I'm tired) I'd ever seen and met. For me there just wasn't an issue, the girl was in my class came over from Hong Kong, we became great friends.

I just thought as more came that new generations would be used to them and it would all be fine, didn't see a problem at all.

Sadly it hasn't, as yet, worked like that. It has for some but both sides have to make the effort. It can be done and those who won't even try are missing out on some great people. We are all very similar under the skin, how we get so hung up on the pigments is a constant source of wonder to me!

Yes great post Astonian .

My 2 kids have both been to mosques on school trip and came back saying how much they had learnt and how nice it was.

They have also been to a church and a Sikh temple . Schools should be encouraged to do more of these trips imho.

Im all for getting on in life etc, but you tell me what would happan or is happaning in muslim countries around the world where christians are living and what happans to there churches, now im not religous but i like to see things played out fairly and to me we are accepting to islam on the majority but not the other way round, we have to start being honest and look at both sides of the coin imo

I have made many freinds from all cultures in life, muslim sikh hindu chinese and still see some of them about and we laugh and joke about footie etc, so im not being mean or nasty there are good and bad in every race and country in the world but for me with what is going on all round the world riotings financial hardship poverty wars etc we are living in precarious times,

It was in York where the EDF went to protest and the Iman went out with tea and biscuits for a chat, just recently. He totally defused the situation and they were able to talk through the issues.

Needs to be more happening like this. Yes I do think they are slowly wakening up, however there will always be mindless idiots who use anything as an excuse to cause trouble.

You have a degree in politics (if I remember rightly) and I have lived and worked in places like Kosovo, Serbia, Albania, Bosnia, Macedonia, the Caucasus, Central Asia. And despite my academic knowledge of all things going on there ... I still come to the same bloody conclusion! Great line there, sums things up nicely.

Great photos, Chico. The mosques in Istanbul are stunning (as you show in the photos).

Yes, great photo's, Chico. Mosques can be incredible buildings. Why would anyone want to destroy and damage a Mosque? (please don't answer that- its a rhetorical question.) So idiotic. I just despair when I read about these morons... listening to them just makes me cringe... a voice in my head says..'Have we got to explain this stuff again. Will it ever end.'

Yes Beovilla, good memory mate and yes, the more I studied the more I realised the futility of it all!!
