Reading Between The Lines: John Stones Deal Is Dead

As often as not my crystal ball is all misted up and so what I’m about to write is based on what I’ve seen and read. And this leads me to one conclusion – reading between the lines, the prospect of John Stones moving from Everton to Manchester City for £50m, in my opinion, is simply not going to happen.

Have you been at the sherry mate? Sky **cking sources :002: :014:
I expect this to happen but possibly not until deadline day

I have no problem if this is the case. Sick and tired of being held to ransom. Stones is over rated, not worth their valuation (whatever the 'English' premium) - his career can go one of two ways from this point. He can find his mojo again and blossom into a great player....or these two consecutive close season sagas can eat away at his self-confidence and, coupled with the falling out of love from some Everton fans for him, he could continue to underwhelm everyone.

Time to move on.

Tosin - time to step up young man.

With the continued investment in Youth, why oh why, is the lad Deneyar not being given a chance, friends up in Glasgow would have him back like a shot, even the Turks would, so why won't his parent club play him?

Last season i posted that I hoped we would buy him, now I hope we don't. We've spent enough on centre halves (are they still called that?) but I agree with Cityman - let's work with what we've got and try and push through some of the yoof's, with the array of attacking talent at our disposal we should be able to outscore most teams.

If its gone so be it imho. I would promote Denayer and see what Eli can do under Pep.

Our centre halves have been blighted by unprotected Pellegrini tactics for seasons so with new tactics can expect to be less exposed.

Would you say it's totally dead, as in Stone(s) dead?

I'm not really fussed either way tbh, if he comes he'll get my support but if not I won't lose any sleep over it.

It would be nice to see Denayer get a chance.

I would rather see Tosin ( Ahead of JD) given his chance, with VK or NO alongside him he will do the job. No way is Stones worth £50m .

The way it looks for Pep's set up , Tosin will thrive.

If you good enough, your old enough.

Agree - although as long as it is VK4 alongside him rather than Otomendi or Mangala as I suspect they have enough to concentrate on with their own performances let alone support a youngster.

If Pep is toying with a 3,5,2 then maybe we need 6 CB's instead of the usual 4. As for Stones he is young and could grow into a top CB, but even at current crazy values he is no 50M player and Everton do not need to sell as in the past to balance up the books.

They do however, have an unhappy player who has asked to leave for the second summer running. I'm pretty sure this will be done. Just haggling over the price

Five across the middle might really suit AK13 - scope to get forward but also some light defensive duties to undertake.

There's still rumblings that Bony may be used in part exchange, his car was pictured in Liverpool yesterday although there's no definitive proof that it was Wilf driving and not some scally that had nicked it.

I've read suggestions that Bony could be valued at £15m in the deal which would see us forking out the other £35m

I believe these rumours are based on an 'article' in the S#n
