Vital Football Legend
What a great win that is! MK Dons lost there. Colchester lost there. Even mighty Grimsby lost there. Winning games like that is what sets the genuine promotion contenders apart from the rest.

That is the last game in that extremely difficult run that started with the league game against Carlisle, and the facts show that we have acquitted ourselves very well. Although we have Newport in a fortnight, we now enter a less challenging run of games on paper while MKD experience the opposite. The next few weeks are going to be very interesting.

So was Grant Smith a seamless replacement for Vickers? How did Bostwick and Pett fare against their former employers? Should Big John change his surname to Akinde-Penalty? Time to tell us.

6.0 is the par score, use half-marks and give us your comments too. That is the interesting bit.

Deadline is Tuesday at 5pm.

Smith
Eardley
Bostwick
Shackell
Toffolo
O'Connor
Frecklington
Pett
Anderson
Andrade
Akinde

Wharton
McCartan

Smith - 8.0, a a very assured performance after a worrying first minute injury, lucky to have him while Vickers is out .
Eardley - 8.0, experienced showed against a tricky winger, covered and worked better with Harry today.
Toffolo - 7.0, again solid, unable to get forward but it was not that sort of game.Injury looked nasty.
Bostwick / Shackell - 8.0, worked very well together , restricted them to very few chances.
O'Connor - 8.0, his sort of game, tough and competitive, gave little away.
Frecklington / Pett - 7.0 , worked hard and well together, Pett always a danger going forward.
Anderson - 7.5, very good defensively, got forward when he could, more confidence now.
Andrade - 6.5, little chance to show his pace, defended well though, took a dreadful late tackle when clearing his lines, bloke not even booked !

Wharton - 7.0 , fitted in well, one very good run forward, looked more assured, in that defence you should be.
McCartan - 6.5, did not look 100% but kept the ball well
Green - 6.0, not on long, but usual pace, kept two of them occupied when they were pushing forward.

A good hard working team performance, you win games in different ways.

No Akinde?

Akinde, John?

Oops, Akinde - 7.5 , won the pen, scored it, put himself about until he got booked just before ht, that seemed to affect his game and he held back, rather than get sent off

Smith 6.5 Looked assured but superbly protected by the back four so not much to do really.
Eardley 8.5 Did n’t put a foot wrong, back to last seasons form
Shackell 9.0 Just a class act, always in the right place to do the right thing.
Bostwick 8.0 Made sure they knew we were up for the fight
Toffolo 6.5 Stuck at it well despite carrying injury from early on.
Frecklington 7.5 Really solid professional experienced performance, you felt he was up for it and knew what was required.
O’Connor 7.0 A vital part of the defensive effort
Anderson 6.5 Worked hard. Just needs a clearer head in the last third.
Andrade 6.5 Almost spoilt the day by giving away a chance/ goal by messing about near corner flag in first half when a bit of hoof ball was called for.
Pett 6.5 Stuck in there really well and on another day could have unlocked their defence.
Akinde 8 Created the penalty, scored the penalty, won the match

Wharton 7 Solid, he’s just unlucky Shackell is so good
McCartan 6.5 Made one particularly good run in the few minutes he was on.

Wharton 7 Solid, he’s just unlucky Shackell is so good
That could well be the absolute epitome of Scott Wharton's season. Is Scott Wharton the best player ever to be kept out of Lincoln City's first team by a truly outstanding player?

Smith 7.5 didnt have much to do really
Eardley 8
Bostwick 8
Shackell 8.5 my MOM
Toffolo 7.5 played with injury
O'Connor 6.5 Mysteriously Thommos MOM
Frecklington 6.5
Pett 6.5
Anderson 6.5
Andrade 6.5
Akinde 7.5 Created and scored pen... isolated after that.

Wharton 7.5
McCartan 6.5

Defensively really good... however midfield and attack couldnt get any control. An impressive battling display... rubbish game though.

Although I got home a couple of hours ago I haven't looked at any reports or anyone else's ratings yet. Here's mine:

Smith - 6.5. Made one good save from a free kick and was alert to make the challenge that got him injured in the first minute or so. Otherwise, generally dealt well with crosses, but especially in the first half didn't have much to do.
Eardley - 7. Made some important interceptions and nullified their right-footed left winger.
Bostwick - 8. Man of the match for me. Won most headers against Revell and made some important interceptions and tackles.
Shackell - 7. Usual consistent performance.
Toffolo - 6.5. As with Eardley, made sure there was no threat from opposing winger.
O'Connor - 6. Only because we won. Disappointing, and seemed off the pace.
Frecklington - 7. Best of the midfielders. Playing in a defensive role was unable to get forward much.
Pett - 6.5. Had two good openings to score - shot over the bar in the first half and in the second elected to try and play in Akinde when he could have had a shot at goal himself.
Anderson - 7.5. Not much came off for him going forward and ought to have done better with a shot into the side netting in second half, but did some great defensive work, especially in the second half when Eardley seemed to get drawn forward into midfield a lot.
Andrade - 6.5. A disappointing cross spoiled a good opening in the second half but had a fierce shot well blocked.
Akinde - 7. Won a penalty and scored from it to win the match, what more can you ask for? Otherwise was a handful for the defence but we were unable a couple of times to play him in for a scoring chance.

Wharton - 6.5. Did OK in defence. Went on a great run to almost set up Akinde.
McCartan - 6. Didn't notice him much apart from when he went on a run from almost on the half way line before losing the ball.

Smith 7.5 - feared the worst after the injury in the first minute but recovered really well, apart from one kick that went out of play had a decent game when called upon
Eardley 7 - Defensively solid, wasn't able to get forward a lot
Bostwick 8 - Coped really well with everything Stevenage threw at us
Shackell 8,5 - Same as Bostwick but organised the defensive unit very well
Toffolo 7 - Looked as though he was carrying an injury but did okay defensively
O'Connor 6.5 - Did okay first half
Frecklington 7 - Helped the defence, wasn't much of an attacking force
Pett 7 - Played okay, tried to get forward and shoot but also supported the defence at times too
Anderson 6.5 - Fairly solid game at times, had a good chance which went into the side netting in the second half
Andrade 6 - One decent shot at goal and helped out at the back at times
Akinde 7 - Caused Stevenage problems whenever he had the ball, wasn't helped by a lack of support by other players. Not the best penalty he has ever taken but it was too good for their goalie

Wharton 7 - Slotted in well when Toffolo went off
McCartan 6.5 - One decent run but was always trying to get involved

Smith - 7 - Grant Smith has without question made the step up, while also coping with being dropped, being loaned and being recalled suddenly.
Eardley - 7 - excellent footballer. Read the game, played the game. We are blessed.
Bostwick - 7 - blood and thunder. Three balls over the stand. It's not weird to say I love this man.
Shackell - 7 - organises so well. When they were lining up for a Stevenage free kick and he told Akinde to tuck in a little. Result: Stevenage player offside.
Toffolo - 6.5 - surprised he lasted as long as he did after those heavy tackles.
O'Connor - 7 - bossed the midfield
Frecklington - 7 - we are a far better team with him at its heart
Pett - 6.5 - did well in the centre but didn't fare so well on the wing
Anderson - 6.5 - full of running and good defensively
Andrade - 6.5 - obviously affected by the heavy tackles
Akinde - 7 - made and scored the winner. What more could you ask for.

Wharton - 7 - loved his runs out from the back.
McCartan - 6 - quiet cameo.

Smith - 7. Was worried when he was injured just after kick off. Well protected by the back 4 but looked very confident and made a good save from a free kick
Eardley - 7. Good tacking and solid at the back
Bostwick - 7.5. Good game winning everything in the air
Shackell - 7. Decent game and seems to organise the defence.
Toffolo - 7. Closed down their attacks well
O'Connor - 6.5 . Is he carrying a knock ?
Frecklington - 7. Battled well in the midfield
Pett - 6.5. Should have scored
Anderson - 6 . Played a defensive role for a change
Andrade - 6 Less effective that usual
Akinde - 7. Got into dangerous positions. Won and scored the penalty

Wharton - 6.5.Did well in defence
McCartan - 6. Didn't do anything notably wrong

Smith - 7. Did nothing wrong, thought he might regret his first minte "tackle".
Eardley - 7.5. The guy is quality, eats up pressure for breakfast.
Bostwick - 8. MOM for me. Won almost everything he went for.
Shackell - 7.5. An good performance from our experienced centre back.
Toffolo - 6.5. Tackled back but took some punishment in the process
O'Connor - 6.5 . Got himself about.
Frecklington - 7. Did well, particularly first half.
Pett - 6.5. Needed more confidence in front of goal
Anderson - 6.5 . Good in parts, could have got forward more?
Andrade - 6.5 Chopped off the Park.
Akinde - 7. Won and scored the winning goal, isolated and a bit anonymous second half.

Wharton - 7.0 Defended pretty well and seemed keen to make the odd break forward.
McCartan - 6. We defended for much of the time he was on, which restricted his forward play.
