Palmer 6.5 Did pretty well making a few saves in the first half, especially the one where TJ made a bit of a mistake. Possibly needs to be a little more dominant on crosses but he's been here less than a week so not much time to assess those in front of him yet

Eyoma 6 Put some pretty good crosses in but was caught out quite badly at one point in the first half
Montsma 6 Some good. Some bad. Diagonal passes didn't come off but look comfortable on the ball
Jackson 7 Thought he looked very assured at the back and will be our glue there this season
Melbourne 6.5 Did pretty well going forward. Very naughty tackle in the early part of the second half.

Edun 6 Still trying to pick that perfect pass and trying a wee bit too hard. Kept going though and was contributing well at the death
Bradley 6 Always available for a pass. Hardworking without standing out
Howarth 6 Busy without making a noticeable contribution.

Anderson 7 Busy without much end product. Got his goal ( question mark if it was an own goal but hey ho) and was a threat in the box
Elbouzedi 6.5 Some really good runs but needs to pick that final pass. Raw talent is there and he's one who could be a great impact substitute this season

Morton 6 Seemed a little ring rusty and not quite on the same wavelength as others. Clearly has a quick brain though as one fleet footed pass to Harry in the first half nearly came off

Grant 7.5 Made a big difference and will be a key attacking player for us this year if allowed that role in the centre which is his best position.

Scully 6 Busy. Should have done better with that last second chance
Jones 6 Put himself about. Excellent penalty at the death

Palmer - 6.5 - didn’t have a great deal to do in the game but effective. No chance with goal, though it could be argued he could have come for the ball. Good presence and well saved penalty at the end.
Eyoma - 6.5 - hasn’t yet settled to RB or CB. Clearly comfortable on the ball but would like to see him challenge more in the air inside the box for the CB role.
Montsma - 6.5 - comfortable on the ball and plays some lovely through balls, but as with TJ I would like to see him challenging in the air inside the box, or at least pressurising strikers with a challenge.
Jackson - 6.5 - solid, effective but not spectacular.
Melbourne - 6 - good going forward but needs to be more disciplined positionally in defensive role.
Edun - 6.5 - didn’t think he was as bad a some said. IMO I wonder if he could be more effective at the head of a diamond🤔🤔
Anderson - 7 - fought hard and put himself where it hurts to score the goal.
Bradley - 6 - steady without standing out.
Elbouzedi - 6.5 - busy and got into some lovey positions but needs to hone the final ball.
Howarth - 6 - steady but unspectacular.
Morton - 6 - good burst of pace and good skill for a big lad but appears to be lacking match sharpness at the moment.

Grant - 7.5 - MoM - changed the whole complexion of the match with his quality and thoughtful play.
Jones - 6 - solid & put himself about well.

Just a word for the excellent penalties to gain the extra point. 👏
 
Palmer: 6.5 Made some regulation saves in the first half, virtually a passenger in the second. Extra half-mark for the penalty save. He does need to come off his line occasionally regardless of modern goalkeeping theory.
Eyoma: 6 Solid at right-back, solid at centre-back on Saturday. Versatile.
Montsma: 6.5 An extra half-mark for a couple of early crossfield passes which were superb. Tried it too often and Scunthorpe began to intercept them. What a promising player, though!
Jackson: 6 Almost invisible, perhaps that is a good sign.
Melbourne: 6 Solid enough against a tricky opponent, but needs to cut out the unnecessary stuff.
Edun: 6 Exposed again straight down the middle, especially in the first half. Is there anyone who can put a tackle in before then?
Anderson: 6.5 Seemed to lack a bit of pace at times compared with last season. Doesn't look fully fit yet, but got his goal.
Bradley: 5.5 Part of the problem down the middle of the pitch when Scunthorpe ran straight through on a number of occasions.
Elbouzedi: 6.5 Good in the first half, looking better than last season.
Howarth: 5.5 Ditto Bradley. Didn't really notice him until the shootout.
Morton: 5.5 Off the pace, marked out of the game. Service to him was lacking at times due to some poor balls in.

Grant: 7.5 Changed the game, we have found his best position.
Jones: 6.5 Better than against Crewe, good penalty.
 
Palmer - 6 -capable but needs to go for those crosses into the 6 yard box
Eyoma - 6 - mixed bag, good getting forward
Montsma - 6 - not quite the new VVD of Saturday, some wayward long passes and part of AWOL defence for goal
Jackson-6.5 - looks assured on the ball and defending but also AWOL
Melbourne - 6 - needs more discipline defensively, keen getting forward often in front of Elbow.
Edun - 5.5 - too many loose passes and getting caught, though he's a talent and a fighter and will come good.
Anderson - 7 - looked lost for much of the first half but grew into the game and earned his goal, looking more like the Harry we know.
Bradley - 6 - capable and tidy, not too many passes which asked questions though.
Elbouzedi - 7 - fast and tricky, most potent threat first half, final ball needs work.
Howarth - 6.5 - lively, plenty of speed and stamina, has he some guile and match sense to go with it.
Morton - 5.5 - clearly needs to get to fitness and method so he needed this, we'll see much better from him in the weeks to come.

Grant -7.5 - transformed the game, MoM
Jones -7 - ably assisted Grant in transforming the game, intelligent runs and support for the front 3.
