Rate The Players v Rochdale

The disappointing run continues, but we are still in the top ten - I am absolutely sure we would have taken that at the start of the season. Another positive is only two goals conceded in the two games since Dannicky left, one of which was a ludicrous penalty awarded by the worst referee this side of Mike Dean. We are one game and one day closer to our new manager, who according to the media will definitely be Gareth Flynn, and stability cannot come soon enough. Lots to look forward to despite some crushingly embarrassing tripe from some 'fans' on social media tonight. We still have some very good players, and the right manager has plenty to work with. At the very least, we should think ourselves lucky - we could be Mansfield Town, for Christ's sake!

So, does Vickers need a rest? Is Connolly starting to show his undoubted ability, and is Andrade back to his former self? Did we miss Bostwick, or do we look better with Bolger in there?

6.0 is the par score, use half-marks and give us your comments too.

Feel free to rate if you watched the game on iFollow.

Deadline is 5pm on Thursday.

Vickers
Eardley
Bolger
Shackell
Toffolo
Connolly
Anderson
Morrell
Andrade
Payne
Walker

Vickers 5 it looked like a bad error for the goal and he nearly repeated the trick too.
Eardley 6 struggled defensively first half, grew into it second half (probably a recurring theme).
Bolger 7 from what I have seen he has been our best CB this season.
Shackell 5.5 stupid booking, didn't get on right side of ref, seems to get caught too far up field occasionally?
Toffolo 8 motm suddenly started driving us forward with Bruno, great cross. Not involved attacking wise much first half.
Connolly 6.5 minus points for what looked like a dive, and struggling to get hold of it first half. Plus points for dictating tempo and being very visible on the ball when they sat in.
Anderson 5.5 not his night, spent a lot of time running into multiple defenders.
Morrell 7.5 good throughout. Stopped a counter from our corner when they were through in a very woodyard esque manner. Best on the ball in first half by miles.
Andrade 7.5 direct running and link up with Toff helped get us a point.
Payne 7 pleased to see him shooting a bit more, and he did well as an option when he moved wide.
Walker 7 thankless task, knocked about and pulled by two CBS, isolated... Then gets the key goal brilliantly.

Won't rate but akinde was decent when he came on and won the ball back quite a few times in their attacking third.

Vickers - 5 - Dust himself down and move on
Eardley - 6 - A slight reluctance to cross, probably as John was on so late
Bolger - 6 - A couple of nervy moments but not that much troubled them
Shackell - 6 - As with Cian, not really sure where the criticism of him is coming from, don’t get it myslef
Toffolo - 8 - Consistently provides, a real key man. I hope Huddersfield’s LB is good
Connolly - 6 - Distribution seemed a little sluggish to me
Anderson - 6 - Didn’t quite come off but often isolated
Morrell - 6.5 - Some unusually sloppy passes but wins it back well, some great tracking
Andrade - 7 - More himself
Payne - 7.5 - He’s a very good player, when will his goal come?!
Walker - 7 - I think it was his goal, works hard in difficult situations, fouled continuously and often not helped by the refs

Vickers - 5. Gave them the goal and almost did the same thing again later on. A spectator in the second half.
Eardley - 6.5. Seemed to be caught out once or twice in the first half. Otherwise did well.
Bolger - 7.5. Don't think he put a foot wrong.
Shackell - 7. Also didn't do much wrong but not seriously tested in defence.
Toffolo 7.5. Drove us forward down the left in the second half, and once he'd 'sussed' Rochdale's tactic of launching long balls in behind him did well in defence too.
Connolly 7. A very ordinary first half, following on from Saturday, but did well after the break.
Anderson - 5.5. Not completely ineffective, but gave the ball away too often and wasted two good openings. The right substitution to take him off.
Morrell - 8. Man of the match for me. Looked a different class, worked hard and skilfully, although his two shots at goal were a little disappointing.
Andrade - 7.5. One of the better players in the first half and lively in the second.
Payne - 7. As with Connolly, first half was ineffective (apart from his run into the right of the penalty area which was our best attacking moment) carrying on from Saturday, but did well after the break.
Walker - 7. Once again a thankless task in the first half, especially being pulled about the way he was, but a quality goal.

Just to add I thought Akinde rated a 7 for effort.

Vickers - 5 - not become a bad keeper overnight, but keeper's mistakes nearly always get punished and did so for the goal
Eardley - 7 - battled throughout, one of the more consistent.
Bolger - 7 - showed he should be starting, if that upsets Shack or Bozzie, tough.
Shackell - 6.5 - defence shaky most of the first half, second relatively untroubled, looking to switch play and help build from the back. Booking a result of frustration at a poor ref's poor decision
Toffolo - 8 -clear MoM, phenonenal stamina and work rate, dangerous fast low crosses inlcuding for our goal, though thier goal and other chances came from his flank
Connolly - 7 - part of collective poor first half, more dynamic second and getting into 6 yard box.
Anderson - 6- not his night
Morrell - 7.5 -battled all night and wrested midfield control second, needs to watch temper as an even worse ref may have given a second yellow. Snuffed out a late break brilliantly.
Andrade - 7 - always involved, but running up blind alleys first half, got his mojo second, linking up better with Toff and a constant threat
Payne - 7 - always active, unlucky not to score, some great close control in a crowded box
Walker -7- isolated first half, team connected with him better second and goalscorer's instinct on display again for the goal.

JA brought on too late, showed again his worth, his ability to tackle defenders and set up chances evident again

Vickers 5.0 Poor parry from a weak shot for their goal and almost repeated the trick later. Not much else to do. Still rate him above above Smith, though.
Eardley 7.0 His best game for ages. And played a superb ball inside the left back for Harry A to run onto. Sadly, Harry has no brains.
Bolger 6.5 Very solid
Shackell 6.5 Ditto, but feared his temper was going to get him sent off. He needs to accept poor refereeing decisions. They never change their mind and we can't afford to play with 10 men in this league.
Toffolo 8.0 Stunning performance, continually drove us forward in the second half as if his life depended on it. Or was he on speed? Expect suitors in January.
Connolly 6.0 Better. Anonymous first half and easily knocked off the ball. Found space to work in second half and sprayed some fine passes around.
Anderson 4.5 Hate to say it because he works so hard, but so often static on his heels when receiving the ball and again was no threat at all to their defence all night. Won one corner. We can't keep relying on our attacking threat coming down one side only. Grant has to play when he is fit.
Morrell 7.5 Excellent. Always available, instant control, and careful with his passing. Brilliantly snuffed out an odds-on one on one when starting second best.
Andrade 7.0 Nearly back to what we know he can do. Plenty of effort, some great combinations with Toffo. End product not quite there.
Payne 7.5 His best for a while. Enormous amount of running and effort. Still runs into road blocks but more more threatening than of late.
Walker 7.5 Covers a prodigious amount of ground in his loneliness (which he doesn't appear too chuffed with). Brilliant flick header. The best goal machine I've seen in an Imps shirt for a very long time. We are largely wasting his potential.
