Vickers. 5 One very good save, one very poor piece of goalkeeping in conceding the goal and it cost us the game. Hesitant in distribution as usual which is exactly what you don’t need when we persist with pissing about at the back. I dont think we once got over the half way line today by trying to play out.
Eardley. 6. Steady but nothing of substance going forward.
Bolger 7. Lost his man in the catalogue of cock ups for their goal but other than that he had a very good game and the main reason they had so few attempts on goal despite dominating possession.
Shackell. 7. Similar to Bolger.
Melbourne. 6. He was put under pressure with some poor passes to him trying to play out and he did lunge in with two footed tackle that could have got him sent off. Apart from that he did ok and defended well because Grant didn’t offer a lot of defensive help today so he was often defending in 2 v 1 situations.
Morrell 5. Joe was poor today, gave the ball away carelessly at times and was 2nd best in most challenges. Had a couple of chances to play decisive through balls in the first half when we counter attacked but chose the wrong option and wasted the opportunity. A good game for possible championship suitors to have been watching him.
Edun 5. Occasional flashes of good play but lightweight and outmuscled by their midfield.
Anderson. 5. Ran a lot but no end product
Grant. 4. Weak and poor. Set pieces were shocking too.
John Jules. 5. 18 yr old young lad so expect to be a bit lightweight but honestly expected a bit better touch and game awareness from an Arsenal graduate. Had a few promising moments first half but didnt make the most of them. Non show 2nd half before being subbed.
Walker 4. Rated highly by the Imps fans who only see him at home but away most of his performances have been as bad as he was today. Weak and lightweight he dangles his foot when trying to protect the ball so gets bullied. Wasted a few great openings by general lack of awareness. Non show 2nd half.

Hopper 5. The tide of the game was set by the time he came on so hard to judge him but looked a willing runner and up for a physical challenge.

Agree 100% with this excellent set of ratings. The operative word is "lightweight" - which sums up exactly why we lose so many games 1-0 away from home. We will never make the playoffs in this division without at least one brawny Bossie/Rhead type player in midfield and up front.

A Beast perhaps? Or, a Monster?
