I would like to agree totally with Femaleimp and go all 5s for me.I have no standout Imps for a MoM .

Vickers - 6.5 - Didn't have a chance with the goal
Eardley - 6
Bostwick - 6.5
Shackell - 6
Toffolo - 5.5
Frecklington - 6.5
O'Connor - 6
Anderson - 6
McCartan - 5.5
Andrade - 6.5
Akinde - 6

Green - 6
Pett - 6.5

Vickers 6 No mistakes, but lucky he didn't have to pick it out of the net more than once!
Eardley 5 Probably his worst performance for us. Woeful effort with his left peg in the second half.
Bostwick 7 MOTM. Ok as a CB but must play in midfield. Only when he went in there did we actually compete.
Shackell 5.5 Won a few headers. Perplexed at him taking free kicks as he looks very uncomfortable with the ball at his feet.
Toffolo 5 Some shocking set-pieces
Frecklington 5.5 Kept going but never got to grips with the fish.
O'Connor 5 As above and rightly hooked.
Anderson 5.5 A couple of nice runs but no end product. Looked our most likely source of joy in the first half.
McCartan 6 Almost anonymous first half but upped his game second half up until being subbed.
Andrade 6 Lots of effort but, like Anderson, no end product.
Akinde 6 Only slotting the pen away stops him getting below 6. At times looked slow and almost lazy. Maybe still lacking fitness (I hope that is the reason).

Green 6.5 Livened us up when he came. Should start most games in my book.
Pett 6 Like Green, he offered us a gee up. Lovely run until falling over the ball :slap:

Vickers - 6. Pretty solid, no chance with the goal.

Eardley - 5. Poor in possession and was beaten too easily too often.

Shackell - 6. Pretty steady.

Bostwick - 7. Easily or best player on the day. Commanding at the back, missed in midfield.

Toffolo - 4. Worrying performance, they destroyed us down our left, granted, he didn't get much help but he was very weak defensively. Delivery into the box was terrible.

Frecklington - 4.5. Overrun. I don't think he and O'Connor can play together in a two. Someone needs to have legs or they need a third body to share the workload.

O'Connor - 5.5. Better then the captain but not by much.

McCarten - 5. Sloppy in the first half, bit better in the second, largely ineffectual.

Anderson - 5. An off day.

Andrade - 4. Too many touches! Every time he guy in a good position he took an extra touch. Delivery was poor.

Akinde - 5. For someone his size he doesn't bully defenders enough for me. Ball bounced off him way too often.

Green - 6. Looked more of threat then the other attackers.

Pett - 6. Neat and tidy.

Vickers 6 - Not a lot he could do with the goal
Eardley 5 - Not such a great presence going forward, he blew a great chance in their area in the second half
Bostwick 7 - Determined performance
Shackell 6 - Seemed okay in the air, his passing and set pieces are not his strong point
Toffolo 5.5 - Gets caught out when going forward, his slip in the second half was fortunately not costly
Frecklington 5 - Was easily outbattled his his Grimsby counterparts
O'Connor 5 - Same as Frecklington
Anderson 6 - Some limited success in the first half going forward but not enough running at times
McCartan 6 - Improved when Green came on and was more of a threat, not great first half
Andrade 5.5 - Very limited success but was trying
Akinde 6 - Not sure a free role suits him, he was helping out in defence, on the right wing and was well marked by their defence when going forward. Good penalty though.

Green 6 - Gave us more shape when going forward, it was a shame after our goal when the ball seemed to get stuck in his feet
Pett 6 - Gave us a bit more attacking cohesion when coming on

Vickers 6
Eardley 5.5 not had a great start to the season, steady but not at the same level as last year yet
Bostwick 8
Shackell 7
Toffolo 5.5
Frecklington 5.5
O'Connor 5.5
Anderson 5
McCartan 6
Andrade 6 not a great game, but didnt hide, was always looking for the ball despite it being a difficult game.. a great sign for things to come.
Akinde 6 very heavily marked with little service. Won and scored a pen.

Green 5 loses a mark for daft cross field pass
Pett 7 looked good again

Wow different game to that I listened to on radio. Grimsby dominated and if they could finish should have won that 3-1

Vickers 6.5 Solid as we’ve grown to expect. No chance with well taken goal into the bottom right corner.
Eardley 5 Poor from one of our better players. Sloppy passing.
Bostwick 7 The one imp that stood out. Absorbed attack after attack and got forward to help out a struggling mid field
Shackell 5.5 Forgettable match
Toffolo 5 Poor set pieces
Frecklington 5.5 Largely ineffectual
O'Connor 5 Poor
Anderson 5.5 Lots of effort but no result
McCartan 5.5 Better second half then subbed.
Andrade 5.5 lots of running but little impact
Akinde 6 Well taken penalty. Didn’t look like scoring in open play. Fitness ?

Green 6 Came on as sub and seemed to inject purpose
Pett 5.5 Raised our competitiveness but below recent performances

Vickers - 6 - didn't have much to do & not at fault for goal.
Eardley - 6.5 - below his usual best as he had to focus more on defending. Effective.
Bostwick - 7.5 - MoM - all-action defensive display, blocking a couple of goal-bound efforts. Provided some more solidity to midfield when he moved forward. Good to see he has more control to his game this year. Just wonder about his compatibility with Shackell in a back-four (see comments in other thread on Bossie)
Shackell - 6 - solid enough and tried to hold defence together but wonder if he is compatible with Bossie in a back-four?
Toffolo - 6 - bit shaky early on defensively but settled a bit better as the game wore on.
Freckington - 6.5 - tried hard but seemed tobe chasing shadows a lot of the time?
O'Connor - 6 - as above
Anderson - -5.5 - love him and can be brilliant when he drives at defenders, but wish he would get the ball past defenders instead of running it into them. Also needs to get his head up and look where to play the ball into thebox sometimes.
McCartan - 6 - treid hard and made a couple of great runs, but looked a bit lost at times (as did the others)
Akinde - 6 - still showing promise - should be doing better now. Well taken penalty.
Andrade - 6 - can be frightening for defenders but seemed a bit lost on Saturday.

Green - 6.5 - has to start.
Pett - 6.5 - has to start.

Vickers 6
Eardley 6.5
Bostwick 7 MOTM
Shackell 5.5
Toffolo 5.5
Frecklington 6
O'Connor 6
Anderson 5.5
McCartan 6
Andrade 5.5
Akinde 6.5 (was going to give him less, as his decision-making was poor, but seeing as he won the penalty, scored it AND cleared one off the line, thought he deserved more)
Green 6.5
Pett 6.5

vickers 6
eardley 5 never close to Harry to give him support, hardly ventured forward,no winger to mark, cleared 1 off line, could do better.
bostwick 7 nobody to mark as grimsby played 1 up top, wasted at the back and should have been reshuffled in midfield to stem loss of possession.
shackell 7 did nothing wrong not extended ..solid performance.
toffolo 6 left sided defender left totally exposed all game as was Sam last season, we desperately need a left sided midfielder to protect this flank. same as noton game all attacks down oppo right....tactically we did little to rectify the problem.......why?
frecklington 5.5 overrun by their 5 man midfield one decent through ball,outnumbered..........midfield shape should have been changed.
without the ball you don`t play the game.
o connor
5.0 as above,outnumbered,and outfought.
anderson 6.5 our only attacking outlet often,2 men on him, eardley too far away from him, needs more support, promising then taken off.mojo back but cannot expect him to win the game from the byline with no support or runners ahead of him.
mccartan 5 played in the hole, midfield don`t win any possession this then negates his game to 1 decent run and shot.. ineffective......he has got to get the service.
andrade 5 flattered to deceive, wayward shooting and short on effort not on method.playing in a 4 he needs to know his job when he is without the ball.
akinde 6 played off scraps again.occupied their defenders.not playing to his best options.our ponderous slow build up did not suit his game.
he thrives on the early havoc ball delivered from deep and it was non existent.
green 6 offers down flanks and piles of effort.
pett 6.5 showed effort and desire

in conclusion our formation 4-4-1-1 dragged everyone`s performance down and we failed to match Grimsby effort 4-5-1,we needed an early tactical change and then might have played better.

note:eek:pposition set up 5 in middle.........,bypass them by playing long to your holding striker.......rhead needed to be on early.
