Rate The Players v Exeter City (Second Leg)

Scotimp

Vital Football Legend
Fine margins. Rhead hits the bar on Saturday and it stays out; Boateng hits the post tonight and it goes in. Rhead is pushed off the ball and a perfectly good goal is disallowed because of it. Done by a linesman again. Rhead gets headbutted and nothing is given. Nothing ran for Lincoln tonight, every ball in the box landed safe. We will have more fortunate nights.

So we extend our record five play-off defeats to six. On we go.

6.0 is the par score, use half-marks and give us your comments too.

Deadline is 5pm on Saturday.

Allsop: 5 For once, I am going to be critical: I thought he should have had the third goal, not that it mattered in the end. Could also have caught the feeble header that eventually resulted in the first goal. What is wrong with modern goalkeepers? Catch it!
Wilson: 5 Terrible header for the first goal. Unfortunately has not found his form again after injury.
Waterfall: 6 Par performance, lucky not to be booked at the end. We conceded three goals, so no more than a 6 for that.
Bostwick: 6. Ditto Waterfall.
Eardley: 8 Quite superb, was on both wings putting the ball in. Crossing was excellent, especially in the second half. Last game for the Imps?
Frecklington: 4 Has to be injured, just never got into it.
Woodyard: 6.5 Outplayed in central midfield by Boateng, but led the second half comeback with Eardley.
Whitehouse: 7 Looked the most likely to score. Unlucky to have that goal disallowed.
Anderson: 4 Made one run down the wing that ended in a foul. That was it.
Rhead: 7 Won a lot in the second half but was almost useless in the first half. Please cut out the theatrics for next season, referees have you totally sussed.
Green: 6.5 Par except for the goal.

Palmer: 5.5 His arrival coincided with Lincoln's dominance over the last 30 minutes but he actually had little effect on goal.

Allsop 5 - suspect on first and third goals and mostly poor distribution

Wilson 6 - did his best at right back
Waterfall 6 - ok
Bostwick 6 - ditto
Eardley 6 - disappointing by his own high standards, although not helped by having to play on the left

Frecklington 6 - some decent touches first half before fading after half time
Woodyard 5 - the poorest performance I’ve seen him put in for the Imps. One bad game in 2 years isn’t bad going though
Whitehouse 5 - unlucky to not be on the scoresheet but given a footballing lesson from the excellent Boateng

Anderson 5 - a willing runner but very poor quality passing and crossing
Rhead 6 - did his best but not much went for him
Green 7 - fed on scraps but grabbed a deserved goal

Palmer 5 - no impact

Allsop 5.5 - I can't really blame him for the goals. The third was so pure I think it's hard to blame him but it's frustrating as he didn't make many saves otherwise!
Wilson 4.5 - A couple of crunching tackles but the mistake for the goal unforgivable really!
Waterfall 6 - Did alright, could have been handball.
Bostwick 7 - One of our best players on the night, a few crucial challenges against a tough opponent.
Eardley 5.5 - Unusually rash, gave away several daft free kicks. A few good balls in.
Frecklington 6 - Brought a bit more 'football' to us on the deck. Don't love the Whitehouse/Freck midfield combo to be honest, easier to play through.
Woodyard 5.5 - I'm not sure he's had much influence (unusually) over the two legs. Wouldn't mind seeing where he was for the Boateng goal because that feels the kind of thing he'd have cleared up on a good day...
Whitehouse 5- Hard work and could have had that goal but sometimes struggles to influence the game in midfield. Bit weak for Boateng goal.
Anderson 5- No end product
Rhead 7 - Still our most dangerous threat is a Rhead flick on and a good bounce... will get decisions for and against as he's a nightmare to ref.
Green 7 - Worked his socks off. Done alright in that wide role all things considering but would like him down the middle more. Don't know how you do that and keep the balance of the team. Charged down the keeper, took his goal well.

Palmer 5 - didn't notice him at all. Strange how little influence he had over the two games to me, being introduced so late in the first game and when it was gone (albeit earlier today). A shame after so many brilliant cameos to get us in the playoffs.

Huffed and puffed, a long and tiring season.

They all get a six, par for the course.

Should not detract from what has been a very good season, just need to build.

Allsop - 5.5 - Maybe could have been better place for the 3rd goal. Not a lot to do, made 1 good save.

Wilson - 5.0 - What was that header? Didn’t look comfortable all night. Hopefully a pre-season under him he’ll look much better.
Waterfall - 6.0 - Ok, not great.
Bostwick - 6.5 - Should be playing in Midfield.
Eardley - 6.0 - Did not cope with Jake Taylor at all.

Frecklington - 6.0 - Hoped he’d be our creative player.
Woodyard - 7.0 - Retained and recycled possession well.
Whitehouse - 6.5 - Ran a lot and was involved a lot, just didn’t work out for us.

Anderson - 6.5 - Looked positive.
Green - 6.0 - Seemed very tired after a long season. Needs to be playing in the middle and a replacement signed to reduce pressure on him.
Rhead - 6.5 - Unluckiest player alive but should stop the theatrics.

Palmer - 5.5 - Not too sure what he did when he came on.

would not sign Allsopp on that performance, should have had at least 2 of 3 goals,MOM Bostwick and Rhead for me, Eardley never gave up, bad day at the office boys, we were well outplayed.

Allsop: 5.5 A bit exposed at times, not a lot he could do with the first two goals, might have done better with the third.
Wilson: 5 Not really a right back, distribution wasn't that great. Much more suited to the centre back role although not sure if he was 100% after the injury
Waterfall: 6 Fairly solid, was a bit fortunate to avoid a booking near the end though
Bostwick: 5.5 Not his best game by a long way, his booking was avoidable and distribution not great.
Eardley: 7 Gave 100% and was one of our better attacking threats
Frecklington: 5 Started off well but petered out during the second half
Woodyard: 6 Having to deal with Exeter's midfield by himself and was finding Boateng a real handful
Whitehouse: 6 Good finish for the disallowed goal, his quality on the ball a bit of a mixed bag
Anderson: 5 One good run during the first half, was well marshalled by their defence
Rhead: 6.5 A mixed performance, should have had a penalty but does things at times I wish he didn't. Refs have him sussed out.
Green: 6 A very good finish for the goal but had little joy against Exeter's defence

Palmer: 5 Wasn't hugely effective, had a great season but wasn't at his best
