Vital Football Legend
Sorry this is late, have only just got home after the train journey from the Twilight Zone.

So we go to the final day, needing a point from a home match against a team with two draws and five defeats from their last seven games. No one will count any chickens though, especially not Jeff. City will need to turn up, which is more than they did for 80 minutes today.

6.0 is the par score, use half-marks and give us your comments too.

Deadline is 5pm on Tuesday.

Allsop
Eardley
Waterfall
Wilson
Wharton
Woodyard
Bostwick
Frecklington
Palmer
Rhead
Green

Anderson
Whitehouse

Allsop 6.5 - Saved the weak pen and a deflected shot with his legs. Distribution was decent too - otherwise had very little to do and was not at fault for the goal.

Wilson 5 - Not his day. Unfortunate to score Accrington's goal, but was booked for an unnecessary show of petulance and his distribution was off. Playing out of position won't help.

Wharton 7 - Authoritative, composed, unruffled. One barnstorming run. Had a goalbound header blocked by the hapless Wilson. Shaded the MOTM.

Waterfall 6 - Three headers missed the target second half. Looked tired towards the end - Accrington player brushed past him with ease to get to the by-line. Tried hard.

Eardley 6 - Some decent crosses but too many ,too close to the 'keeper, the only exception being a curled free kick first half which obliged Chapman to tip over. Also looked jaded and was uncharacteristically beaten down his side second half.

Frecklington 6- Started well, but faded as the game went on.

Bostwick 6 - Won a lot of headers, penalty he conceded was dubious.

Woodyard 6 - Did what he always does, but no outstanding contribution .

Palmer 6.5 - Did as well as anyone until getting crocked. Hope he's playing Saturday.

Rhead - 6 Was successfully double-teamed by Accrington second half and couldn't get in front of his man.

Green- 5 First touch lets him down. Never really threatened. Think he had one shot, which was blocked. Looked very down at the end, with his head bowed.

Whitehouse, Pett - 6 each - No real impact, but Pett did get involved for the time he was on, which is an improvement.

Anderson 5 - Slightly confused by his performance. Seemed to be running the clock down, as if we were in front in an elaborate effort to force a corner. Seems to have lost the ability to beat his man. The one time, he did get down to the by-line, his cross was ineffective.

Allsop: 7.5 Two excellent saves in the first half to keep us in the game. It was not the best penalty in the world, but the keeper still has to go the right way and hold on to the ball.
Eardley: 6.5 Created three good chances in the second half (two for Waterfall and one for Bostwick) from crosses - on another day, one of those would have been an assist. Has not been as effective this month for some reason - does he know where his destiny lies?
Waterfall: 7 Two good efforts at goal, although he should have done better with one of them.
Wilson: 5 Looked a bit slow to me, picked up an unnecessary booking and almost got caught in possession a few times.
Wharton: 7 Sometimes he is almost too calm on the ball, never flustered. A cut above League Two, and promotion may be the only way we will keep him on loan next season. Playing out of position in theory, although I can see him permanently at left back if he returns.
Woodyard: 6 Can't recall seeing him substituted before, but he looked a bit tired.
Bostwick: 6 Definitely a penalty, I'm afraid - clear trip - so half a mark off. I dearly wish his distribution were better, he wins almost everything but then heads/kicks it straight to the opposition.
Frecklington: 5 Another game that passed him by. I hope they can get that back injury sorted during the summer - sounds like that is the cause of his other injury problems (the left-side chain?). It has to be affecting him.
Palmer: 6 Limited impact, can't remember him causing them too many problems.
Rhead: 5 The Rhead Fan Club will be after me for this, but the Accrington fans were singing, 'You're embarrassing' at him. They were right. His antics are pointless because the refs know all about him. Try focussing on the game instead.
Green: 5.5 Ran a lot without really getting anywhere. Also picked up an unnecessary booking early in the game, which surely limits how you play thereafter. Fluffed what looked like a great chance to equalise in stoppage time.

Anderson: 6: Had an impact when he came on, but why did he dive on the edge of the box? Yes there was contact, but he could have stayed on his feet with no problem whatsoever. Well-placed on the edge of the box, why not shoot instead? I just don't get it.
Whitehouse: 6.5 Did well for 20 minutes. More effective than Frecklington.

Allsop - 6.5
Eardley - 6.5
Waterfall - 6
Wilson - 5.5
Wharton - 6
Woodyard - 6.5
Bostwick - 6
Frecklington - 6
Palmer - 6.5
Rhead - 6.5
Green - 6.5

Anderson - 6.5
Whitehouse - 6

Allsop: 7 - One good stop with his legs in the first half and a decent save from the penalty. Kicking was better too.
Eardley: 6 - Didn't seem at his best, at times their winger caused him problems and in the second half his attacking crosses/set pieces were a mixed bag
Waterfall 6.5 Should have at least headed on target one of his two second half efforts, mostly defensively solid
Wilson: 5.5 Lack of match practice showed at times, will be disappointed with his booking
Wharton: 7.5 Played well and looked good on the ball
Woodyard: 6 Wasn't at his most effective but was hard working, it was still surprising to see him substituted though
Bostwick: 6 Not sure about the penalty, I've watched it ten times on youtube and still not convinced he fouled the player. Heading was very good but gave the ball away at times. Might have scored at the death on another day.
Frecklington: 5.5 Not at his best
Palmer: 6 Not as his most effective, seemed to be well marshalled by the Accrington defence
Rhead: 5.5 Won more than his fair share of headers especially in the second half but not many of them reached their target, just like Palmer wasn't too much of an attacking threat
Green: 6 Worked hard with little reward, was booked in the first half. Was better in the second half and might have done better with an effort late in the game.

Anderson: 6: Seems to have lost a bit of confidence and didn't seem as effective on the ball s earlier in the season, did win us a few corners and free kicks but wasn't much of an attacking threat
Whitehouse: 6 Usual hard working performance when he came on

I was at the game, but my daughter listened to match, the comentators stated ref was from Lancashire, enough said.

Alsop 7. Couple of vital saves, seemed a bit stuck on his line at times
Eardley. 5. Well below his best, unusually poor crosses and McConville won most of their duels.
Waterfall 6.5. Our best goal threat at set pieces, solid defensively.
Wilson 6. Being made a bit of a scapegoat but played a big part in keeping their lively strikers at bay
Wharton 7.5. Classy display. So much more solid down our left than we were down the right.
Woodyar 6. Usual tenacity but when chasing a game he isn't so effective hence being subbed
Freck. 6. Heavily involved in the only quality move resulting in Anderson being pulled back. Worked hard.
Bozzie. 6. Average but their midfield were much more fluent than ours. Along with Woodyard highlighted our lack of creativity in midfield. Having 2 enforcers defensive anchor men hamstrings us when we go behind and have to chase the game.
Green. 5. Poor, no real threat and slipped at his time of possible glory.
Rhead. 4. From excellent at Coventry to pish poor and embarrassing ar Accy. Moaning, whinging and play acting at his worst. Never a threat on goal and their CBs bossed him . Should have been subbed as Rheadball played into their hands.
Palmer. 6 our best threat but took a bad knock in the first half which led to his limited impact and subsequent substitution

Anderson. 6. Lacking his pre Christmas energy and power but still offered more than others.
Whitehouse 6. No real impact

Allsop: 7.5 - Two good saves in the first half. Saved a penalty as well although a poor one, still needs to be saved. Kicking was better as well
Eardley: 6 - Not his best game and Accrington had done their homework and had him well marked. Despite that he did alright with crosses and corners
Waterfall 6 - Should have scored and solid at the back
Wilson: 5 - I wasn’t that impressed. Looked lacking match fitness
Wharton: 6.5 - I didn’t rave as much as others on here and thought he was sloppy at times, especially first half. Despite that he bossed it down the left all the second half.
Woodyard: 6 - Closed down in the midfield. First time I’ve seen him substituted
Bostwick: 6 - Not going to quibble on the penalty as I’ve seen lesser trips given. Wins nearly every 50-50 balls. Just wish he could then retain the ball and make it count.
Frecklington: 5 - It’s not happening
Palmer: 6 - Had high hopes seeing him start. Accrington had done their homework and shut him down
Rhead: 5.5 - Marked down for play acting which was obvious on the replay. He was effective as always winning headers and flick ons but came to nothing.
Green: 6 - Lots of running around. Pointless booking. They defended well and broke up our attacks

Anderson: 6 - Injected some pace but never looked like a threat to Accrington
Whitehouse: 6 - On the last 20 mins. Fresh pair of legs but that’s about it.

Pett was on the the last 15 mins but made no difference.
