Racism

I seriously didn't know chink was derogatory or considered racist.

I think 99% of the people I know when they eat a Chinese say they are having a chinky. Are they all racist?

Whelan also said Jews are obssessed with making money more than anyone else. He's a nasty anti-Semitic

That's different. Stereotyping based on religion, colour, weight, whatever is always wrong... it's back to that ALL word Fear mentioned. So yeah I can understand why people got the hump about saying that, although I still maintain people get far too easily offended these days.

Calling a Chinese fella a chink though? Don't see anything wrong with that.... it's not like he said all chinks are hung like a baby carrot. That would be bad :)

Who cares what the pc brigade think..... Tosses. **** is only a hate word if the context makes it that way, and there's no venom using the word Chinky.

Wonders if any of them watched 'It will be alright in the 70's' on TV tonight. How TV was then with the sexism and racism. Cringeworthy stuff. They were showing clips and talking to people acting on TV etc then, such as Linda Bellingham, so it was obviously shot before she got ill. Linda was saying how it was on TV back then and she didn't like it. People thought it was funny too.

They were saying that since all the liberation and openness of the 60's came about TV thought it was O.K to do this stuff, which they couldn't do in the 50's. Now we are in the extremes of the PC world which has gone too much the other extreme, today.

Having a laugh, with no malice meant, has become offensive now.

I am going to get a load of abuse here, but I am speaking honestly.

Having read this thread I am disgusted to be honest. If you actually cannot see what you are writing is not offensive then god help you to be honest.

Just coz "it was acceptable in the old days" does not mean it is acceptable now - simple !

Touching women up, slapping their backside, groping them, that was all accepted in the "good old days" as well. As was "Alf Garnett" "Love Thy Neighbour" and simiar things (did anyone watch that programme this week called "The 70's was alright" that showed an old man lusting after his 15 yr old grand-daughter !).

I presume you also dont think terms for gay and lesbians that used to be used are wrong either

Very immotive and that is the last I will say on it - but it honestly sickens me to think people actually think this is acceptable nowadays.

There's a weird right wing liberalsim going on now, millitant aggressive labelling of everything being racist this, sexist that, when in reality it's an insult to people who have really suffered such harassment putting something completely different under the same light. It breeds apathy too, waters down the real meaning of it. The media loves to shit stir, and wind people up, and this is the vogue story of the day. The Nazi Lefty's on their furious mission to ban all speech that might possibly offend someone who is looking to be offended and play the victim, it's all about being a woe is me victim today too, I blame X Factor...

It's gone from freedom of speech to oh you can't say that any more, that'll hurt someone's heart and infringe their human rights :2:

Breeding a right generation of soft sods I'll tell you, ripe for an invasion by the *pc term for the people of China*

This is a good clip, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o25I2fzFGoY not exactly the same thing but a piece about how language changes with generations.

Lol Clive.

There should be a game show where the contestants have to guess what they are allowed to say anymore and to who.

No abuse, just think you're over reacting, have we read the same thread? Where has anyone stated that it is alright to be a peado/sex pest? Or where anyone has stated it is okay to abuse homosexuals? Having re read the thread I guess the only thing that you could really be upset about is the repeated use of the term "chinkie" Is that a derogatory term? Should I start to take offence at those who call me a Brummie?

No one has excused the behaviour of those more mature individuals who are far from politivally correct, an understanding of why they are like that is more the consensus, we are talking about people from a different era whose social conditioning has led to their opinions, they are as much victims of brainwashing as anything else.

If you actually cannot see that, your god isn't helping you much.

What about the word ******? Taken by most to be an offensive term for people of African decent but in reality is actually just another word for black, derived from the Latin word fir black, niger.

Now see you have'nt got a clue what your talking about here those programmes were designed to make the bigot look the idiot which they did perfectly.

I ay into all this political correctness bollox tbh, we am all the same and banter or naming something what it is is not offensive, there is a disease and that disease if ''ya cor say this and cor say that'' if i want to say i fancy a chinkies tonight i will fek em it is not offensive and i have even said it many times in my local chinese takeaway they have never said to me to not say that and have a great laff en joke, honestly i wish people would realise this is the real world and not a gentley spoken world where we all skip along the street holding onto our hankies and satchels singing the hills am alive!
