I’m not an expert
Imagine if loads of high profile players announced that they're leaving Twitter indefinitely because of how bad it is? It would be horrific publicity and drive down it's share price and potentially drive some real change.
This is what I don’t understand actually. I’ve seen some great posts, Rio Ferdinand for one has tagged every important man and his dog and rightly so. But how powerful would it be if these players (and ex players in solidarity) switched off their accounts?
It’s such a luxury that fans these days can be electronically a few seconds away from reaching an idol - in good ways and bad. When I was growing up, you might bump into the odd player outside Villa Park on a non-match day and grab a picture but that was it (if you don’t live in Sutton where you might see them all the time).
They no doubt have sponsorship and other KPI’s they need social media for, but those sponsors wouldn’t dare turn the income off for them off the back off coming off social media for these very credible reasons surely.
If I was Saka, Sancho, Rashford etc I’d taking strike action.
