Having seen it first hand, its the hundred little small things that add-up. We typically don't notice them at first but they hurt people an incredible amount e.g. asking to touch their hair, touching their hair without permission etc. Those sort of things make them feel like objects.

I think she had every right to feel and to be Irish. I used to say plastic paddy but there is a percentage of people who are 100% Irish without the Irish accent. I remember when I lived in Birmingham this Kerryman who worked on site had a daughter who was every bit as Irish as me. It was her identity but she was born and raised in Birmingham.

Societally I think whether you grow up black in America, black in Ireland, black in England you'll always be identified by others as black first. I believe we've been conditioned that way and its nobodies fault but its again this dancing around it as if its not real that's an issue.

My GF is worried about this exact issue happening with our kids. She wants them to identify as black first and Irish second because she expects incredible hurt, sadness and disconnect with the world if they see themselves as Irish. Most Irish people won't accept a mixed race American as Irish. I won't say I blame Emma Dabiri's mother for it but she fucked up.

With that said we're getting into the complications of the world with the racial differences between America, Europe and Africa. On those 3 continents what it means to be black, how you're perceived and who will accept you are so different.
My kids are mixed race. They have Malaysian passports and ID cards but most Malaysians don't regard them as real Malaysians. I think that's fair enough. They have grown up with one foot in eastern culture and one foot in western culture.

It will become more of an issue for them when they become teenagers but I've always told them that they can pick and choose the bits they like, they can be both or neither or anything in between.

I read something a while ago which I won’t do justice in articulating, that many those at the bottom of the wealth chain aren’t inherently anti-capitalist or pro-socialist, but when the pendulum swings too much away from their favour and it is perceived as being “unfair”, take training to be a pilot where you need £150k to train from your parents, then they start to create uproar.

I think she proves that when it suits - assuming she’s more of a socialist with her views as BLM want to bring every structure down - that everyone can accept capitalism when it’s working for them.

It might be in the article and I missed it - how has she earned the money to buy the house? I’m assuming it’s from donations to the charity she has been syphoning off perhaps in a legal way but certainly immoral. Is that the case or has she earned that wealth herself a different way?

I thought when BLM were causing mahem last year we were told BLM has no leaders, no bosses, no staff hierarchy.
Mmmm. Well a BLM 'boss' has treated herself to a 1.4 million dollar mansion.
Very fishy.
She is also under fire for forgetting her black roots as she has moved into a 90% white obviously affluent area.
Why are you surprised col, this country is full of champagne socialist telling the rest of us how to spend our money, how to vote, how to think.
Bunch of total hypocrites, just surprised that so many fuckin idiots are suckered in by them.

My favorite thing about stuff like this is that she's probably shocked people are reacting this way. Or, far more sinister is she knew there would be no real consequence.

I see it from both sides, as Dan points out we don't know how she got her money but either (a) its syphoned off which is bad or (b) she clearly and obviously got it through capitalist means. If the woman has worked hard and bought it that way fair enough but don't go and tell us its what's wrong with society. If its point A, good lord that's terrible shitty human behavior.

You gotta get paid but if you've got the organization giving you a fat ass cheque your a charlatan.

Yeah BLM had 90 million in last year alone so one can only assume where that money came from.
Shes also got deals as spin offs away from BLM like a film with warner bros.
Mmmmm. I wonder is shes secretly hoping white people who have had good upbringings watch it?

I wonder if this might prompt a rethink by all these Premier League players re the knee.
I get the gesture, but I never got the way in which Sky, and the clubs, and the FA, and players, egged on by the media were so easily roped in by this lot.
Its not as if they hid their Marxist anarchist views, it was out there if you took the trouble to look.
In the real world beyond the Premier League it didnt last long, players and clubs saw through it, and it is to be hoped it quietly disappears during the close season.

I’m really not trying to be pedantic about the knee, but 7-8 months after the first time players did it which was our game, I am still none the wiser as to what it’s supposed to support or what it’s trying to do.

If it’s associated with Black Lives Matter, then it’s fair to say that there are concerns with that, as we would rather it be associated with a Kick it out or black lives matters (lower case) cause.

It symbolises physically something that is not a problem except in extreme cases in the U.K., a black man being killed by police. We’ve seen American footballers do it during the national anthem.

Zaha doesn’t kneel anymore and fair play to him, what is it supposed or what has it achieved?

I am none the wiser.

Re: taking the knee, if that's what players/clubs want to do, then fine, that's their lookout.

But considering the apparent rise in social media hate messages to players in the past few months (as being reported on n almost daily basis), I really don't think the message is getting through and maybe it's time for something different?

Yes its their choice, but like everything else these days it seems like just another empty gesture, that make the person doing it feel better about themselves.

I feel these things are a pendulum. When there is a lot of publicity one way, it seems to trigger people the other way. I seem to remember a black player getting abused at Blackburn, it has been years since I’d heard of something like that happening, and then we had more and more cases - usually involving Chelsea fans.

I wonder if some people have some sort of trigger to fight back if they feel attacked (in this case white people) or they have a trigger they can’t control in sending a black player an awful message as was the case with the Villa fan sending messages to Zaha.

I also think there’s a generation of fans - like the teenagers at our away game at Norwich - who just don’t understand what they’re saying or the severity of it.

Think you are right there dan.
I get sick to the back teeth of being everyones excuse for every thing that is wrong in their lives.
I even had one clown on these pages tell me I was the living embodiment of middle class white privilege, without ever having met me.
People would be better off if they looked at their own circumstances and tried to change them for the better instead of always needing to blame someone else for all their issues and problems.

That BLM lady bought a house! What a bitch!

She got a book deal, or perhaps more. I believe it was described as a multi-media deal.

I have a mate in California. He paid $1m for a row house on the edge of the hood. It's like one of those houses the guys lived in in Boyz in the Hood. It has bars on the windows and steel doors.

Marxists also need houses to live in.

Just a thought, but didnt Marx say that all property/ possessions should be eliminated.
