R.I.P. Steve Carney

RIP Not the greatest footballer but always gave 100% when he pulled on the NUFC shirt.

I was behind the goal at Filbert Street when he scored our first goal back in the first division back in 1984.

When I close my eyes I can still see the ball flying into the bottom corner.

Doesn't seem like five minutes ago now.

RIP Steve.

Bruce68 sums him up perfectly. One of the most honest players you could find on a pitch.

RIP and thoughts with the family.

Remember that day well, off after match to blackpool for a long weekend, then a home match on the Monday.

As Bruce says not the most talented, but always gave 110%.

A sad loss, RIP steve..

Tragic news here is our tribute to a true Spartan legend:

Blog was written when news of Steves illness broke back in Febraury.

RIP Steve

So sad, older lads on here have some good memories of his time in a black and white shirt. RIP Steve

I think he was a better player than he's given credit for. Fast, could play a few different positions and hard as nails too. Many happy memories of him scything down more talented opponents. RIP Stevie Carney.
