R.I.P John Robertson

Lost my Mum yesterday and Robbo today. Not the best Christmas ever.

Thoughts as ever are with his family, friends and the extended Forest family.

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened"
Really sorry to hear your news buddy. I hope you and your family can celebrate your mums life today, and still find time to enjoy being all together, in her memory

I hope you all stay strong

What an amazing player, and im so happy I had the privilege to have seen him play so often. I saw him win promotion, the league and 2 european cups for us.

if you never saw him play for us you missed an absolute legend- literally he was in a league with the likes of maradonna and messi (and that is no exaggeration )

RIP John Robertson So sad to hear of your passing, long live the legend.

That's awful mate so sorry, bad enough at any time, but this time of year just magnifies it.
As far as Robbo is concerned the word legend gets slung around far too easily these days, but Robbo genuinely was a club legend, & arguably our best ever player over a prolonged period. One of those players who when the ball went to him you could hear the crowd get instantly louder in expectation, how did he only get 28 Scotland caps, their loss I suppose.
A real Legend RIP

So pleased I saw him play. He brought me so much joy and with Clough's guidance he became the main weapon that took Forest to levels that made my teenage years an absolute pleasure. Football is so far removed from the 'Boys Own' days of yesteryear but this man is a true football legend and someone who made you proud to be a Forest fan. RIP King Robbo 🚩

A statement from John Robertson’s family.

"It is with immense pain and sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful husband, dad and grandad.

John passed away peacefully on Christmas morning with his wife and family by his side, after a long illness. Our only comfort in our grief is that his struggles are now over, and he is reunited with daughter Jessica.

“Robbo” was treasured by many as a footballing hero but to us he was just John and dad, the family man…kind, loving, witty, fun and loyal.

Although our hearts are breaking, we will always be grateful for the years we were privileged to share with him and the amazing memories we made. We will miss him every day and love him always."

John leaves wife Sharyl, daughter Liz and sons Andrew and Mark, as well as granddaughters Jess and Phoebe.

Just lovely. Cant wait to hear our appreciation for him over the coming games

Some heart warming comments on the humility and kindness of the man. A truly great man on and off the pitch. Also some interesting interviews with Elliot Anderson and Brennan Johnson on sky's Xmas specials

I first met him when he was 15. They were changing at the cricket ground after the main stand burned down. He played with our school staff in 74 with MON.

Very sad news. Our best ever player followed by storey-moore.

Absolutely outstanding. Rip

I always remember as an older teenager I had a conversation with Robbo not long after he had retired as a player. He was about to take over a pub

I was asking him all sorts of questions about his career

And something he told me always stuck in my mind

"There was one season where every time I went on the pitch I believed I was the best player in the world"

Imagine being able to say that and actually believe it?

And whos going to argue?

Also i remember Stuart Pearce saying the first time he met Robbo was on the team bus taking them to the airport to fly to a pre season tour somewhere. Robbo turns up just before the bus leaves. All he brings with him is his passport and tooth brush in his back pocket.

Not one bag or case.

He just borrows stuff of everyone the whole trip

Lol. Thats how to travel light

How cool is that?
