Premier League Match Thread: Nottingham Forest Vs Fulham, sponsored by the PGMOL apology letter room

7 points from those 5 games would be great and keep us well on track for mid table

Any more amazing

9 points from those games very tough

No wonder you get easily disappointed will!!

You have to be more realistic about how hard the EPL is?

There's no easy games home or away and you always need luck and var on side as well

Any one of those teams would be hoping or expecting to get a result against us themselves.

Best side doesn't always win. Which sometimes will help us and sometimes won't as well

We’ve not won at home since April and two of the teams above haven’t won yet whilst another are in awful form.

we’ve dropped 7 points at home to opposition we should be getting points from… if we aren’t aiming high in these next sets of fixtures, it’s going to be tough when you have away games at Arsenal, City and United to follow.

Our home form is relegation material at the moment and we need to change it - it’s not being ‘easily disappointed’, it’s being realistic about what we need to avoid being part of that bottom 5 or so clubs this season

If it’s any consolation to Will I’m actually hoping for at least 10 points from those games. Wolfie is right though, that sort of optimism often leads to disappointment.

The CHO is pretty straightforward, it was six of one and half a dozen of the other; CHO did not even have control of the ball so the defender had every right to go in like he did - if that had happened outside the box it would not have been a foul.

There was far more in the Fulham penalty but it was still borderline for me.
Just brilliant forward play, awareness and body positioning. Was in total control of situation, planted his leg and body in front of the defender and waited for the contact which came, and which was nowhere near winning the ball. Stonewall

Murillo was eyes on the ball, inadvertently stood on the back of Perieras heel, no racking or stamping, and if you look at pereiras leg position, its fully extended back into Murillo.

Zero intent at all and the ref didn't give it. Correct call by the ref. VAR had no business overturning that based on the 'new bar'

Agree in your CHO summary and your view of Murillo incident. Can imagine the ref was unable to give a pen as he didn’t see it. He was possibly looking elsewhere at time of incident as it was accidental and what some would call a coming together. Seen worse, intentional coming together not given. Refs are miked up so a comment could easily be made that he didn’t see incident thus VAR looking at it and requesting ref looking at monitor.

Awoniyi incident was not a pen. Elanga incident was seen by ref who said no pen. Therefore it needed a higher bar for over ruling. Can understand why both incidents turned out as they did but hard luck on Forest on both counts but understandable.

Earlier this morning on Sky Sports News, Ref Watch analysed the incident and Dermot Gallagher came to the conclusion that Murillo shouldn’t get sympathy for what he thinks was a clear decision.
He said: “Well I think it’s a penalty and I think it’s clear and obvious because he stands on his heel and he is going to drop for him to head it so for me it’s clearly a penalty. The dilemma is people’s tolerance level is different but I think it’s a penalty.

Dean Ashton concurred with the former Premier League referee, saying: “He’s about to head it, usually six studs down the Achilles will do it but he’s shoved him as well.”

Have to disagree about our claims - Elanga has his leg hooked from under him. If it needed a higher bar, it cleared it by a long way. "Have another look, please, ref - it's a penalty".

While MOTD heads said the Awoniyi one wasn't a pen, Lineker did admit that 'They're given every time in Europe'. I'm not fussed on this one as when two players go for the same ball in midair it's likely one will kick the other's foot. Technically, though, it's a foul and a penalty.

Although there was agreement on sky sports news ref watch with respect to the Murillo incident it’s worth adding that one pundit thought the Elanga penalty claim should have been given whilst the other thought Elanga didn’t help himself with the way he fell. I think he was siding with Elanga overall and I note the photo of the incident which clearly shows the defenders foot hooked around Elanga’s ankle. I think both pundits thought that Awonyi was fouled. As for Lineker, it’s not just in Europe where that is given as foul. It’s given here most of the time as well. Wasn’t Awonyi also injured as a result?

Finally found some highlights that include the Anderson push. Bang on 3 minutes. If any contact and push in the box is a penalty then that's a stonewall one as he just shoved him over with 2 hands. Consistency?

Interesting that this is Fulham TV and they manage to make the Elanga penalty claim look like a dive. Yet I've seen the angle which shows a clear penalty.

Yeah and even they said it's not a foul when talking about the Murrilo one until it got replayed a thousand times.

Just watched on Forest TV.

Fulham started like a train and Forest did well to stay with them. Don't think our formation had much to do with this - they were just playing really good football and we struggled to get near the ball, but defended stoutly.

Wore them down, had a goal disallowed for a marginal offside, and by HT it was a good contest.

Penalty happened, ours didn't - sure, we missed MGW but we didn't create much. Despite the penalty and the dodgy push he got away with, Murillo was superb.

Flashes from Awoniyi - if he's fit, start him against Chelsea and give their defence something to worry about. He will click (I hope!) and it will make a massive difference to our goalscoring potential.

A couple of great passes by Dominguez first half, and I'm not sure why Sosa got such a panning - a foul throw, but some decent touches otherwise.

awoniyi runs like his muscles have been replaced with wet rope

I liked Anderson's attempts to get Awoniyi in behind the defence down the right.

If they got a chance to try it again, we might get some joy out of that.
