Premier League match thread: Nottingham Forest Vs Chelsea, sponsored by Tottenham Hotspur

Its a football match. Why does this bollocks need to be included.
It had it's time around 2020/21

It was NEVER appropriate in this country. Taking a knee means something very different culturally in the UK than it does in America.

In our culture it is a sign of fealty and subservience, not respect or contrition.

Taking the knee for BLM instinctively feels like a gesture of subservience to black fellow citizens, and this is why so many Brits have been instinctively uncomfortable with making it, as it is entirely inappropriate.

Maybe some CRT advocates would argue that it is very appropriate, but they are a big reason why we have a far right government incoming in 2029. British people are sick and tired of being told we are shit for something that the super rich did 200 years ago while our working class ancestors were working for the same people in sweat shops.

Many British people are sick of being told that their ancestors in those sweat shops who died before their 40s and who had half their children die benefitted from slavery and that we, their descendants, who may have virtually nothing, owe them money.

Unfortunately, the reaction against those extremes is going to deliver us a far right government where everyone will suffer, and where we will be under the yoke of the Christian right. And no one benefits from that.

I have no problem acknowledging the slave trade and acknowledging the evil of it.

But the evils of racism in this country are very different to the culture of racism in America, and so needs a different response. The knee is not the right one here

Back to football. Awoniyi, MGW x2, Anderson, Sangare, CHO, Williams X2 all missed presentable opportunities. Sangare’s effort was the only one on target. One could add Jesus to tat list as it hit both crossbar and post without a touch from a Chelsea player.

Not the first time. Swansea we should have got 5 in first half and Betis 4. Wood missed several sitters in last 6 games.

Add to this the miserable defending, particularly from set pieces, and we have the reason for such poor results. We did play three CL opponents in that time butt it is the lesser teams that makes such miserable watching.

You are missing the point. Every game has opportunities that could have been and while you are right usually one or two would go in that doesn't mean you will win the game while conceding bucket fulls at the other end. We had to score 4 yesterday to have won.

MGW missing two chances he should have done better with is nothing unusual for starters

I see the Morgan at Villa has no trouble shooting.
