Premier League Match Thread: Nottingham Forest Vs Bournemouth, sponsored by Daniel Levy's menagerie of strikers

Fletcher is spot on in my opinion, in fact I would go as far as to say all our summer transfer activity so far has been punts at the lower end of the market. Also £25ish million on a striker gets you bang average.
It's almost as if we've lost sight of that balance between the need to improve the team & the desire to buy & develop young players relatively cheaply to sell on at a profit to enable us to balance the books. Some of those players are inevitably going to fall by the wayside & while implementing that policy we must ensure that we don't lose sight of the fact that we need players that are ready to go in the PL in order to maintain out status,

Honestly we have more players that are ready to go in the PL than we have had since last time we were in the PL.
I think that's why Nuno said that keeping our players was the most important thing.
We've improved on last season just by virtue of having more PL experience among the team we already had.

We have the best and strongest squad that we have had since promotion. That is no small thing. We actually have players that are increasing in value and have sold players for big profits.

For me we should be good for mid-table obscurity which would be lovely.

Paid £15 for the season and watched full match replay.

Yates MOM. Sangare mostly good. Boly still heads it half the length of the pitch. Williams good first half.

MGW swamped too easily, needed support but also below par.

But anything else is swamped by the horrific accidental injury to Danilo.

I thought Yates looked sharper than previous seasons and always looking to drive forward

Maybe Nuno is starting to give him more licence. I did like Anderson’s comment about the last time he saw Yates was when he was kicking the shit out of him…

I don't disagree with him but I do think he missed off a couple of things- 1. no more PSR malarkey to distract 2. more settled side 3. window not finished yet.
4. All our young players are a year older, stronger, more confident and wiser.

Unfortunately, Wood is also older. Will we get another 15 from his this season? I hope so and he's looking in good nick.
Maybe Taiwo can contribute similar but they both have their frailties.

I think we've made good additions without any necessarily being hugely transformative. I would very much like to see another reliable striker. Nketiah would be good, but any terrier-ish striker who will still be able to run at defences in the last half hour to relieve pressure on our midfield and defence.
