Premier League Match Thread: Liverpool Vs Nottingham Forest, Sponsored by the trial of the century

Some minor points after Saturday game.

Thought interesting That Williams came on at LB rather than switching Aina. But swapped over for corners.

Players get despondent when dropped. CHO and Elanga knew they had a job to do. Heroes. Squad changes will not be viewed negatively but overall in team picture.

Morata playing in middle of three.

Jota playing MGW role. He is good in the air and on break.
CHO and Elanga knew they were coming on if we were still in the game and possibly even if we weren’t.

Pre Diabetic, nothing bad.

There is no requirement to not drink, but I do not feel comfortable taking medication and drinking on top of it.

I am not even sure I should still be taking the bloody medication; everything that was out of kilter is back to normal, but the GP insists.

Makes you wonder if there is any truth in the rumour that they do get kickbacks from big Pharma
I can’t drink alcohol anymore with the number of pills I am on. There comes a point where you just have to make a choice and you do get used to it. I do sometimes miss it but not enough to go back to it.

I don't drink any more, due to a liver condition (none alcohol induced I should add) but I suppose in many ways I'm lucky as there are so many alcoholic drinks I simply don't like, I've never managed to find any wine I like, I don't like spirits, I've drunk my fair share of beer but never really enjoyed the taste, & I always used to suffer dreadful hangovers, so abstinence is no hardship for me at all

I've stopped drinking fizzy drinks and rarely drink alcohol other than a rare nice cocktail or glass of wine with a nice meal

Pretty much drink water all the time now

I was always drinking fizzy stuff before

Trying to be healthy and I know drinks can add loads of calories

We are all a bunch of sicknotes and/or boring bastards on here it seems?

Lol

Ps I had a mojito to celebrate the win v Liverpool

Just the one though!

Probably just in the 40 plus range mostly…why shorten your life?

I dont miss it much either

I saw something from James corden recently where he said every alcoholic drink you have steals an hour from your life the next day

Have to agree

I lost all interest in drinking years ago. I can go months without even thinking about it.

I like a Guinness but it's rare that I'm not driving, and even if I'm not I can absolutely take it or leave it- and usually do the latter

When I get asked what my average weekly unit intake is the answer is usually zero.

I think I had one bottle of German beer over the summer holidays and I think that was it since May

Full match replay on Forest TV is always a bit weird, especially when you've already heard the radio commentary in real time, with the dread of celebrating too soon as stoppage time ticked away.

Knowing the result makes it all seem a bit tame, though Forest's defensive display still shines out loud and clear. Then after HT Liverpool get two or three warnings before Milenkovic starts a sensational move which ends with CHO scoring the perfect goal. History is written.

The cameo from Jota Silva was the icing on the cake, taking so much pressure off us at the death, winning throw-ins near the corner flag and setting up Elanga's volley.

We were lucky Salah had quite such an off day, but that was an awesome performance.

Take it from a (at one point) close to becoming a high functioning full blown alcoholic, that is only really the case when you are a casual drinker. You get to a point where you can have 7 beers and the same numbers of mixers in an evening, only to get up the next day and be relatively productive. Scary stuff when you actually think about how much booze that would be over a week.

I do not miss that level of consumption at all, mostly due to having to take a piss every 10 minutes. I have one or two now and I will feel it the next day. I'll take that as a good sign.

I love a Guinness, not too many, just a nice three or four pints, but you just cant get a decent pint nowadays.

You end up paying over a fiver for a pint that is not worth half that.

I was in London a month or so back and the nearest pub to where we were staying charged £7.50 a pint; I nearly told there where to stick it, but thought better of it - it turned out to be one of the best pints I have had outside of Ireland

That's a whole different story can't tell me anything about that one I had prostate op about 12 years ago & then apart 3 years ago between lockdowns had a good spell of radiotherapy for prostate cancer (fortunately still OK at the moment), so I'm a bit of an expert when it comes to taking the piss

The stars aligned at last...

They hit the inside of the post and it rebounded straight to a defender's feet.

Sels almost dropped the ball over the line but got a lucky rebound off his elbow to keep it out.

Near the end, Murillo was almost nutmegged by a goalbound shot, which somehow deflected out for a corner off his inside leg.

On a bad day, those all go in. It was clearly our day on Saturday, written in the stars. And to be fair,we could have had two or three anyway.

Surprisingly i don't really miss the booze much either , like i say i have a few beers & cocktails on holiday but don't go over the top , i was having no end of stomach trouble and would have a bad stomach every morning after drinking alcohol .
Added to the fact that i tend to be a bit of a knob when pissed and do daft things like launch sherbet filled projectiles at complete strangers and just be a nuisance in general i decided enough was enough and it was time to knock it on the head .
Recently been to Malta to visit my brother and enjoyed a few cold beers without getting out of hand .
Quite enjoying the fact i've got to grips with it to be honest and i definitely feel better for it . No more diarrhea most mornings which used to make me feel rough all day. Been over 2 years and i won't be going back to the old days.

Watching the spurs / Arsenal game. Does anyone else think Brennan has regressed or just lost confidence?

Looks predictable, not really threatening despite being in a team who are/were more on the front foot than we were/are
They don’t play him in behind to his strengths, he needs playing in and utilising pace

Well done getting yourself out of that fenris!

Can only concur with the comments above re: the alcohol. I’m 55 now but 10 years ago it was like someone just flicked a switch and the thought of the how shit I was gonna feel the next day outweighed the fun of getting on it. I still give it a nudge on a lads catchup or the like but I’m lucky if that’s 2-3 times a year now. Rest of the time I’m happy drinking Soda and Lime if I’m out for a meal with the Mrs and don’t miss it one bit. Better for your health and the wallet.

Cheers chap. I am one of the fortunate ones in that I can still enjoy a healthy relationship with alcohol and can still have a drink from time to time. I have friends who cannot touch a drop due to the ensuing spiral. I am very lucky and I do not take that lightly.

Definitely do not miss somehow ignoring how shite I would feel every morning and still putting a good shift in at work, only to crash on the sofa afterwards for an epic nap only to repeat the evenings drinking over again. Got very boring very quickly, so the answer was apparently more booze.
