Predictions & Match Thread: England v Croatia

i was talking to a colleague from Croatia today. He said the over-whelming opinion of their fans is that it will be a good game for 60 minutes. After that they expect their team to run out of steam due to the extra time they've played plus their average age. The consensus is that Englands youth and extra energy will result in them swarming all over Croatia and winning comfortably in the last half hour.
He also said there is an acceptance in Croatia and in their media that they have already achieved their goal of a semi-final place, so wont be motivated enough to find the will to push hard when Englands extra fitness tells.
I replied- Yeh you would say that.
I think this game could go either way. But i feel fate has been on our side throughout this World Cup. I'm going for 3-1 to England. Hope i'm right.
 
I am normally a pessimist but I think we will win tonight Croatia have played two very tough games and I think we will have too much for them late on.

I am looking forward to seeing how our defence does when put under real pressure which so far has not happened and I do not think Croatia are particularly good at defending set plays which we should gain advantage from.

I still think France will win the final they looked class last night against Belgium.
 
Yep i will agree on 2-0 as well.

A pretty average England team have a very easy semi tonight. Could be 4-0. And after that it should be an even final with france. The best team have been Belgium but despite dominating France, they just fell short sadly.
 
I’m nervous. Feels like Lincoln in the FA Cup again. This ones going to extra time.

If lincoln didn’t start singing the following by the end of the season I’ll be gobsmacked (in the tune of the new Southgate song):

A very easy semi? No such thing. Croatia are an accomplished team who *may* be a bit under par after their punishing quarter final.

Look, I'm no great supporter of the England national team, but I find the playing-down of their achievements quite bizarre.

It is an average England team yes which is currently performing better than the sum of its parts, but to call it an easy game is laughable. Obviously not an England fan. Personally think France have been the best team and we’re much better than Belgium last night.

Pretty much where I am. Never really been that bothered, win or lose. But, I do find myself believing that we could actually win it. To do down getting to the last 4, I just don't get.
