Predict This, Predict That

Vital Reserves Team
Doesn't it all start to get on one's ma****ies?

Does anyone really care what the attendance might be (for a future fixture)? Hmmm....maybe afterwards, it can be mildly interesting...... arguably.

Any real discussion on here is dominated by a minority who don't actually give any credence to opinions which happen to disagree with theirs. They just cannot "let it go" - yes, you know who you are?

Anyone who has an opinion which just doesn't "sit" with the dominant posters is repeatedly belittled, dredged up and generally discredited with an: "I know better. What do you know? I post on here more than you" attitude. Some are even removed. Ha! What a joke!

I like "new" opinions and thoughts on modern Lincoln City and football tactics, style and formations. What could improve last season's 7th position and play off failure?

I have been watching City since the early '60's when sh*t prevailed. Football has changed immeasurably from even the '70's. Graham Taylor's team would not live with the modern teams...... but in its era it was special. Very special.

Colin Murphy's team (Trevor Peake, Thommo, Cockerill et al) was nearer to the modern age but probably wouldn't compete with the new "scientific" age of football.

We now watch football which is tactically superior. Where the scientific, diet improved, fitness scheduled and tactical "nous" is deemed as a winning formula.

Let's hope City's modern approach under out current regime can get a top three finish.

i respectfully disagree...as football message boards go, this one seems respectful, tolerant and measured. Have a liitle look (but no more)at FB lincoln banter board to get some perspective.

Sometimes it is...sometimes it isn't. When one has an alternative view one is labelled a troll. We can all hold our own views you know.

After all one person's rubbish is another's treasure and vice versa.

I do agree with the LCB thing though. It can get quite tetchy at time.

I reckon we all 'disagree' with some of the threads posted on here, but most are fine and at the end of the day earn the club money with clicks, so I have no problem. Those that people don't comment on very soon drop down and are relegated from the front page so clearly shows a lack of interest by the audience. The prediction threads clearly are popular and are, at the end of the day, just a bit of fun for us all. If you don't like them just ignore them.

Yes. I guess so. Very good point.

That isn't strictly true. The contract I signed with Vital Football in November 2011 states that they agree to "pay you", meaning me.

I then give up the money and sponsor players, matches etc, in the name of Vital Lincoln City.

Of the current first page 50 threads, just five (I.e. 10%) are about predictions.

Ah bless. I don’t post often but never have any issues when I do, but if I did can more than hold my own. Predictions - personally choose not to look at them but respect the choice of those who do. A bit like vegan food - not my preference but no problem with those who make that choice. No one makes clicking on a prediction mandatory. For a site this this to work it needs choice and it needs opinions

I’m not big on predictions, so just tend to ignore any posts involving them. At the same time I appreciate that the clicks they generate raises funds for the club. Only thing I tend to predict is starting 11 because like you I like to discuss tactics etc.

I like this forum because I don’t feel it is dominated by a minority. But then if truth be told 90% of the time I tend just read the post itself and not who has posted it! Generally I find most the discussion constructive, only the odd case where someone can’t let something go as you put it, but I read lots of other clubs forums to and think that tends to always be the case. There will be a few people strong in their beliefs about something who will regularly disagree with people who feel differently.

Good for you redimpsfan100 I always like a good old rant :grinning:.

Personally as some have already alluded to I think this is a really great message board. I have had disagreements on this board with other members and that's good because healthy debate is always great as long as it doesn't degenerate into a slanging match. But those that I have disagreed with I agree on other things and like their posts etc. No grudges held etc.

I really like the predict the attendance and where they will finish competition but other people don't and choose not to participate that's there choice ultimately no problem. I don't go for the predict the score rate the players etc.

I think Lincoln Vitals 100% Imps is generally great and we should all appreciate it.

At the end of the day we are all Lincoln City Football Club supporters on here (apart from the occasional opposition interloper but that's still fun) and that's what we should all remember.

"Sometimes it is...sometimes it isn't. When one has an alternative view one is labelled a troll."

I think that's only me that does that, rather than the message board in general? (And because you have form in that regard.. ;) )

"But those that I have disagreed with I agree on other things and like their posts etc. No grudges held etc."

Absolutely this, always this...

Thanks for that clarification Jules. ??

And that should never be forgotten, that Jules and others put hours and hours of time and effort into this site for no monetary reward so we can blather on. It's a heroic gesture of selflessness that often goes overlooked in the general day to day hubbub of posts etc..

Thank you. Indeed we do put in many hours to make this website one of the very best around, none moreso than Jules. I'll give you an example of what I mean; I prepare the match previews usually from Monday morning doing research etc. and send the unfinished article to Jules on a Wednesday afternoon. He then adds all the photos and links to things written in the article (e.g.previous matches against the same opposition) before publishing it on the Front Page. I honestly cannot tell you how long the whole process takes just for the one article but it does run into hours.

I'd also like to mention Phil (Scotimp) whose League Two preview (as an example) took hours and hours of research to put together to produce such a thorough article.
