Hard to base anything really on this Australia jaunt,
Have we seen at any stage our actual first 11,
for me no, there are still players recovering from WC duties, some with niggles, still a few who are long term injured and of course we don't know if there are any incoming /outgoing transfers.
'Cartledge Free' wasn't overly positive on our performance against The Chavs but what do you expect with 10 men, and still a win at the end.
In short I've watched us in pre season dominate teams, and score freely only to crash and burn come the season proper .(See last year's Super Cup) .
For me really mid September should start, just start, to show our true footprint, new team, new manager etc...
I think we'll do alright, just how alright remains to be seen.
I don't disagree SCOTTY.I'll go out on a limb and say we will be up there come November and talk of us being dark horses for the title. We will come quite a bit short come end of season but can see us having a really positive season.
I guess they will be down Malaga way.For me it was 3 set up spectacle games and awash with players that will not be forming the 1st 11 marching out against Brentford in a couple of weeks time. I hope the next friendly at the Lane is all 1st team players that are likely to play in that game otherwise De Zorro will not get to see how his tactics play out across all positions.
personally for me I think it was an expensive trip too far ibh but great to see who is who and who we want to try keep and underline those we like to move on.
Still much to be done when they get back
Then we can do same with the Women's team ... they are just going to Spain with their new squad hoping to gel on the pitch. Just hope they are no where near any fire risk areas. They will also be on SPlay for those interested.
Some commonsense is needed here: the players on WC duty needed a break, a decent one - and 2/3 weeks will probably not be enough - even if they didn't pay alot, travelling, sleeping on a strange bed, the unfamiliar surroundings all take a toll. For me it was 3 set up spectacle games and awash with players that will not be forming the 1st 11 marching out against Brentford in a couple of weeks time. FiFA should be up on a charge for disregarding the health and welfare of players , the football associations worldwide , the clubs , and the paying supporters. Some commonsense is needed here: the players on WC duty needed a break, a decent one - and 2/3 weeks will probably not be enough - even if they didn't pay alot, travelling, sleeping on a strange bed, the unfamiliar surroundings all take a toll.
There minutes will have to be managed, depending on their individual health stats; start playing them too early for too long and you store up injury trouble.
The season starts too quickly after these Tournaments; getting them match fit, avoiding aggravating niggles along the way, is never ever easy with a proper pre-season work up.
