Postecoglou appointed manager

Listen closely folks.....

Can you hear the pinging sound? It's the sound of hamstrings popping down at NG2!

I have never, in nearly 30 years, been as vociferously opposed to any manager appointment as I am this one

I was massively opposed to McLeish but at least I could see some record there of how it could work.

I do not support this appointment in any way, shape or form and I think it is likely to be an unmitigated disaster.

We have gone from one of the Premier League's most tactically astute managers to one of the most tactically inept.

I can't believe what a monumental act of self harm this is

I can see him being gone by Christmas and this being our relegation season. I really, really, REALLY hope I'm as wrong as wrong can be on this but....I just can't see any rationale for this appointment.

The sort of appointment that makes you realise that we’re not the well oiled machine we thought we were when it comes to organisation and decision making.

He’s appointed his mate with no thought to the squad or his shortcomings. Terrible terrible terrible appointment

Car crashing appointment, unless he adapt his style, he tweaks his principles to the squad and opponents, like he did in the Europa League final, and improve his working methods (fitness regime, things like that)
But since a leopard can't change its spots, good luck to us all.

Great stuff Pope. My confidence levels in Ange have suddenly surged. Thanks for posting thoughts.

Really not happy with this, it's a massive expectation for us to completely change to his desired style now the season has started. It's polar opposite to how we are used to setting up even if Nuno was in mid transition to something else.

Massive risk but I'll get behind him as I did Nuno when I was sad to see Cooper leave. I'll also get behind EM who since cooper appointment has generally got things right. May find out if that was luck.

One thing for those saying we need to get behind Ange, show him support etc: I don't think there is any danger of fans not getting behind him during games.

I think it generally takes a lot before Forest fans start turning on their managers, and ultimately we'll judge him based on what we see on the pitch.

But he has become a bit of a joke figure in English football over the last year or so. I guess now is his chance to prove those doubters wrong.

I think when the dust settles people will have a more rational and balanced outlook about this appointment.

Last season Ange's league form was horrific and his approach does tend to cause more injuries than we would like to see here.
His suicidally high defensive line is utterly laughable and would not work with Milenkovic, although Murillo might be able to handle that.
He is supposed to be a good humoured Australian but quickly turns into an unlikeable sour, miserable bugger in a poor run of form.
In general, he has an impressive track record, peaking with the 5th place a couple of seasons ago and last season he won the European cup that we are competing for right now.

All the managerial options available had pros and cons lists like this. This one is particularly high risk because it seems a bit boom or bust. Press conferences will be interesting: sometimes fun, sometimes embarrassing and depressing.

Very few are delighted with this, but even the most anti must be able to see the positives through the gloom, and vice versa. The positive people must recognise that 17th was a shitshow.
It really could go either way for him at the City Ground. Time will tell.

These are the cans we will be kicking around all season.
