Post KDB knacking - Should we get the cheque book out?

Alert Team
Of course there will always be suggestions of panic or question marks over who is available, but like I have been banging on about how we should be playing to our strengths all season, I suggest we do so off the park once we know the extent of Kev's injury.

I think its a no brainer if he is out for 1 to 2 months. We are missing Nasri already in the engine room options and Toure looks exhausted.

The squad has also been stretched all season by a terrible run of injuries. We need to be looking to make safe.

The carrot in the next few days would be this. Wanna join a club already at Wembley and in the mix across 3 other fronts?

I will hold back on suggestions at this point...

Squad rules are restricting us JB, there's no space available.

Hopefully it means Kelechi will see more gametime and also that we'll go back to Sterling and Navas out wide which was so fruitful at the beginning of the season.

There again we could always throw stupid money at Coutinho just to **ck Liverpool over.

No keep the chequebook in the back pocket, unless it is for a WC CB.

The carrot would indicate a player who has not been involved in these comps and to find a quality player who we can play in these comps

Stuart Brennan tweeting that he's hearing DeBruyne has had his scan which suggests not much swelling, good sign.

No chequebook for me.

As pointed out, restrictions maybe a factor, what's the point in signing a player permanently in this sort of situation?

A loan if we were really desperate.

Hope that's true.

Maybe a loan rather than a permanent signing as the player would need to be of a sufficiently high standard that a permanent signing would have to fit into squad plans long term.

More game time for KI72 please. And presumably Nasri will return at some point.

Keep the money within the club, just focus more on Kelchi. Silva, Toure, Navas, and Fernandinho across the middle should give plenty of opportunities to our strikers. We went a few months without Aguero, I think we can survive a few weeks without KDB

Six weeks then time for him to get back up to speed, we have to hope the rest of the team can carry on from last nights game, Yaya should only start when necessary he just doesn't do it for me any more.

Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne is likely to be out for around six weeks after injuring his right knee in Wednesday's League Cup semi-final win over Everton.

The Belgian international, 24, changed the game from the bench but fell awkwardly in injury time.

There were fears he could be out for the rest of the season.

"Kevin told me the only thing he can do is work hard and come back," his agent Patrick De Koster told Sky.

"Kevin is sad. His dream is to always be playing football. He will miss games like the League Cup final and in the Champions League, which are important."

"Fell awkwardly"? FFS!

He had more than a little bit of help from Funes Mori!

On the subject of spending:

I for one can't see the owners handing Pellegrini any more cash if the rumours about Pep are true. perhaps they might consider sanctioning a move for one of Guardiola's alleged targets earlier than planned, but I think it would take a truly outrageous injury crisis to get them to do that.

I would in any event prefer it if we started promoting some of the youngsters from the EDS. They're never going to learn if they don't play, and even if it is a risky strategy, Nasri and KDB will both be back sooner than planned.

Get a few of the youngsters on the bench, and play them for the odd 20 minutes to give the senior players a bit of a rest. It might cost us a few points, but the club will be better off for it in the long run

Indeed. Did you know Liverpool have bought 50-60 players across the past 5 seasons? And we get all the transfer stick!

I have heard about a revolving door for the managers but that is ridiculous.

If anyone is guilty of profligate spending without any outcome....look no further than The People's Champions

....and I nearly choked on my coffee when I read the 'fell awkwardly' description in a BBC article on the match :shoot:

JB, that is because we buy quality not quantity, I think we have had one bad summer of business, but otherwise we have done OK, if on most occasions we have had to pay premium prices

They really ought to be called out for their scatter gun approach to spending though. The media seems to very quickly and conveniently forget and forgive their financial profligacy.

Our money is a strength, so yes we should use it when key players are injured, I agree with JB. We should also play academy players off the bench when the game is in the bag. Our coach rarely does this, so we never get to see how they perform on the big stage. I think another big overhaul will happen in the summer regardless of who the coach is. We now have too many ageing players in our squads, plus some of the recent buys are not good enough to win the Champions League.

Good call BD, I would keep him, however what would be a nice gesture at the fin al would be to put KDB on the bench so he can get a medal, although my feeling is that all players who play in the rounds should get medals not just the ones that are picked to play in the Final

If we could do something about his community service order, wouldn't Tevez on loan be a fantastic idea ?
