I can't help feeling this thread will turn into another free for all against those with religious beliefs.

No, as I've explained many times, my strong feelings are not against the believers, my problem is with some, in my opinion, very corrupt institutions.

So :89: to you.

So at last the loyalists can sing and actually mean "No Pope in Rome!"

The Nigerian Bishop is my tip to take over

It's NO POPE HERE, Skeggy.
You see that on loads of walls in Belfast as you know.
Sometimes you'll see written under that in smaller letters LUCKY OLD POPE.

The Fear - 11/2/2013 14:46

Should be easy enough to find another nazi to take his place surely!?

:17:

I'm tempted to suggest someone but that would be both unkind and possibly libel. :86: :17:

I want to know if he will get to take his fabulous wardrobe with him. He must have strong feelings for the funny little hats he gets to wear...

And yes, I was raised Catholic and I do feel there is another bombshell that is going to rock the Catholic church and that could be the reason he is retiring. He knew what he was getting into when he took the job. The Pope doesn't retire, he dies.

Think the one bombshell already went off really. When they compared pedophilia to....... what was it again... something fairly low down the sin list!

Was old when he took it on, surprised he didn't realise how tiring it would be at his age and that it wouldn't get easier.

Hey ho, not my problem I guess! lol

Think last one to retire/resign was 600 years ago. Ask Jonah, he'll remember.

BBC link says: Pope resignation: Shock and stoicism Watch

They seem sad: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-21414033

Thought I'd look up the true meaning of stoicism

Stoicism is a school of Hellenistic philosophy founded in Athens by Zeno of Citium in the early 3rd century BC. The Stoics taught that destructive emotions resulted from errors in judgment, and that a sage, or person of "moral and intellectual perfection", would not suffer such emotions.

Stoics were concerned with the active relationship between cosmic determinism and human freedom, and the belief that it is virtuous to maintain a will (called prohairesis) that is in accord with nature. Because of this, the Stoics presented their philosophy as a way of life, and they thought that the best indication of an individual's philosophy was not what a person said but how they behaved.

What a dull sod I am!

or a more modern definition, I think we could rename 100% Stoic Villa?!?

A person who can endure pain or hardship without showing their feelings or complaining

Apparently Canadian Cardinal Marc Ouellet has been installed as favourite for the job according to Sky.

Shall we start a betting thread on it :187: :187: :187:
