Pope Francis has chided the Catholic faithful for using their mobile phones during Mass.

Come on, surely everyone gets the call in a different way? :14:

It's a fair comment. It doesn't really matter what your faith is, there is a time and place for using your mobile phone and in a church or house of religion is certainly not one of them.

Come on PoL!

I'm trying to cause trouble lol

No I agree, faith, agnostic or athiest, what kind of pleb goes to a religious ceremony and plays angry birds.

My thoughts on religion are clear, but both kids went to a school (1 still does) which is heavily linked with the local church so at points I have to go. I keep my mouth shut, I bow my head when they pray and have a laugh and joke with the Father as he's a good chap when it's appropriate.

It's not belief it's a lack of respect and the Pope is spot on, if you're going to behave that way, stay away.

Then again I don't understand people who go for a drink or meal with mates and spend all night on twitter either.

Funnily enough I read this story earlier on....

http://www.nme.com/news/music/a-perfect-circle-eject-60-fans-taking-photos-2157565#oFYRkGEgPdXlfWGq.01

The band A Perfect Circle kicked out 60 fans from a show for taking pictures (they were warned not to take photos or videos during the gig)

The Pope/Maynard James Keenan, don't bring your phones to their churches!

It was a seated gig and there was a sign on the back of every seat warning that taking pictures or video on phones would result in ejection.

I guess 60 people can't read, or can and are just arseholes.

I use my phone in church and so do many of us on a Sunday:

I will explain though it's for taking notes on the virtual notepad of the talk (we dont call it a sermon at our church) as we very modern and unconventional like that.

We also use it to look up passages the sharer on a Sunday is going to use in our virtual Bible

And no I dont use it as an excuse to snidely nip on angry birds. I dont play virtual games

:14:

Whether it was about illegal videos or pics because they wanted to sell them, you pick your choice don't you SJH.

Balls Kef, you're playing angry birds and you know it lol

It's about respect, if your church has no issues fine, but I'm guaranteeing nobody made the assumption prior to asking.

It was probably an intimate gig, so phones in the air would have been ridiculous. And Maynard probably hates that shit anyway. At a Tool gig he once wrestled a stage invader to the ground and held him in a lock while he sang the rest of the song. Which was a good 10 mins lol.

A lot of stand-up comedians are the same way. I'm sure it's off putting seeing peoples big dumb faces being lit up by phones every couple of seconds.

I'll bow, never heard of him but on first post I went to marketing/merchandising being the bitch I am. But a sit down gig and clear signs, more fool them.

Yeah comedians the same, because they are working for the best gig to release on DVD lol

I think it was when I stopped believing in aliens stealing taxi drivers jobs and I might be sucked off from somebody from Uranus to be honest and paid a bit more attention to real life instead of crackpots trying to make money out of those who genuinely want to believe because in the grand scheme of things we are irrelevant and not even a grain of sand in our own Universe let alone what exists outside of that.

And we all should believe really.

And on that note I'm 4 1/2 hours off where my day began so my bed calls.

Take it easy dude.

You've not met some of my mates :3:

Little known fact about Mormons - we spend three hours at church on Sunday. The first hour and a bit is our main worship service so texting away there would be seen as being disrespectful. The rest of the time we'd be in a lesson/discussion-type environment so many (including myself) who keep our scriptures etc on our phones or tablets would use them there.

That's a good idea, so you spend the first hour being preached to, then the next few hours you can question, discuss and disseminate?
