The Politics Thread

Yep and they have no opposition party to worry about. Open warfare has broken out in the Labour party. Starmer refused to give the whip back to Corbyn which has infuriated the left of the party. Now talk of court cases and even a possible split in the party. If the left form their own socialist party they will take the majority of Labour funding with them. Unite as always backing Corbyn and the left wing of the party. Looks like we are stuck with the Tories for a long time to come. But I think at the first opportunity they will replace Johnson and then we will see who comes next.

Thing is with the unions, they know a Labour party NOT in power, is of no use to them, so I think a fair few/most unions would stick with the Labour party. Think, not know! But Corbyn and the left have already proven to be unelectable, the 3 victories came from the centre ground.

For them, it's not about winning power, it's about being ideologically pure.

The current coalition government in Ireland is Fianna Fail (marginally centre-left), Fianna Gael (centre right) and The Green Party (left wing). When the coalition agreement was made, a lot of Green Party members resigned. They don't want to/can't compromise. They aren't really interested in getting things done or making things better. They want to show everyone that they are more ideologically pure than yeow!

For some, yes, agreed. But some of the unions and their leaders are fairly savvy and realise power is the only way to affect things. And having Tories in charge, does erode their power.

Who are you implying Kef?

You got an A4 pad Dan? I'll make you a very long list with the top being the two so called leaders of the free world! 😏

The only reason I would put Johnson top is because we are stuck with some form of Brexshit and the U.S have been able to get rid of there piece of trash

However a song for them would be "Brothers in arms" cos they are. A version of the Kray twins too.

Though skip the song thinking about it. I love that Dire Straits number, so I'll think of another. I don't want them ruining that as well

Just when I thought I have seen every embarrassing thing this clown could do. here is going on like he's pissed or on drugs while Starmer really does rip him another one so all he has left, is to make some sort of weird noises.

The prime minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland........God help us.

Embarrasing. Not the first time either with these stupid retorts

And that folks is what an Eton education does for you.

What an embarrassment.

The funny thing is that I think he could probably be a good PM during calmer times. He talks a good game and is always happy to big up Britain. Unfortunately, he's the wrong man for 2020.

Also, in fairness to him, Brexit is a clusterfuck that should never have been allowed to proceed as it is. The referendum was non-binding. What exactly people were voting for was never established. Letting a yahoo like Farage shape the direction of the country was a disaster.

Don't get me wrong. I think Boris is a clown and I've been saying that for a long time. I don't hate him personally but he's just not the man to lead Britain in 2020.

The whole Brexit thing has been a clusterfuck from start to finish and I've no confidence that it's going to get any better. From where I'm sitting (a Ford service centre in Malaysia) it's the end of the UK.

He is a bully, a liar, a populist and a fraud in my eyes, no time would have been a good time for his ilk

A serial cheat too, who would sell his Grandma to the devil for anything that benefits him. He is also an abuser.

When Carrie shouted "get off me" 2 years ago when the police were called he stepped past a line of an argument into domestic abuse

Ignoring what the vote was about, as that is for the COVID thread... interesting number 55 as that is the number that would be needed in order to put in a vote of no confidence in the PM

But 55 Tory MPs voted against the government plan - the largest rebellion of Boris Johnson's premiership.

A further 16 Conservatives abstained, with many of them having expressed concerns about the tougher tiers in the Commons debate that led up to the vote
.

He will be ok for now, no one else will want to be tarnished with the terrible death rate and all the mistakes of this Gov over COVID, but as said, interesting numbers. They thought only about 40 would vote against.

(And again, this isn't a COVID debate)

May was one of them who abstained alledgely. Some apparently voted both ways which was effectively a veto. That was because he was apparently standing at the "no" door entry bugging them as they went in, i read on Sky
