The Politics Thread

I did like his opener this week though:

“When the Prime Minister met Donald Trump last week did she do as the Foreign Secretary suggested and ask him to take over the Brexit negotiations?”

Boris couldn't suppress a smile, May looked like thunder

News doesn't seem to have picked up much on the disarray in the Labour party does it? Another 6 have left the front bench for them. 90 ignored his call (or the whip instructions) to abstain.

How is this man and his vile disgusting side kick running this party?

They already have a massively unbalanced and inexperienced shadow cabinet because half of Labour won't touch the current set up or have already had to resign or were sacked.

And then they have a concert type rally and people turn up to listen to this closet communist and sympathiser.

Madness.

He said in his sad little concert appearance it is the party for inclusion, unless you are Jewish wasn't added to the end of his speech.

Could not agree more Jonathan however much some of his policies might appeal but the thought of this guy as prime minister is frightening
and as some one who voted for a Labour in the past that is worrying
it basically leaves you no where to go.

Another totally fake politician isn't he? And May has no guts either, she's letting them do what they want.

Do not think May has any choice her majority is to thin. By rights she should have sacked spreadsheet Phil for the feckin disaster he visited on the tories in the election. Boris should have been sacked on any number of occasions along with half the cabinet. Bad as May is I fear what comes next. I would rather have Micheal Foot and he was a disaster but at least was a decent human being than Corbyn.

Apparently it was first said that Boris was in Luxembourg for some EU thing. When it was pointed out he could get back in time for the vote , it was then announced that he was going further afield.

He can't even lie properly.

And they won't say where, they are claiming for his safety or something.

As said, he's just another in a long line of fakes.

Yeah, sort of agree Merlin, keep your friends close and your enemy closer so to speak. But then, if she's shown some grit, maybe she'd be doing better? It's been a pathetically weak Government and then, as you say, look at what else is on offer.

Gulp.

Love this from yesterday:

"Ex-international development secretary Priti Patel also appeared frustrated by Mr Johnson’s loose talk.

She said the government is “seeing some rogue behaviour from ministers and I don’t think that’s acceptable”, citing both Mr Johnson and health secretary Jeremy Hunt who had also attacked business for speaking out against the government’s approach to Brexit."

Says the woman who lost her job by colluding with the Israelis in a number of undocumented meetings and allegedly made promises to divert international aid money from the UK to help the Israeli defence forces.

If that is not rogue behaviour, I'm not sure what is?

The Home Office mistakenly detained more than 850 people between 2012 and 2017, some of whom were living in the UK legally, and the government was forced to pay out more than £21m in compensation as a result, officials have revealed.

The document also reveals that bonuses were paid to both senior and junior Home Office staff according to whether targets for enforced removals from the country had been met. Some staff were set “personal objectives” on which bonus payments were made “linked to targets to achieve enforced removals”.

This is a disgrace. It's embarrassing and humiliating what kind of country we have become. SO much for 'great' British values.

There are no lengths to which this shambolic government won't go to waste money, fracture society and destroy people's lives. Appalling stuff.

Yes and Liz Truss has also had her say.

A Treasury minister has attacked cabinet colleagues who have demanded extra money for their departments in an outspoken speech.

Liz Truss said it was "not macho" to push for bigger budgets, singling out the boost for the NHS as a "one-off".

It's the typical game now, go quiet for a bit, come back slowly and come back with support for PM with a bang.
