Pochettino: Rose Regrets?

Disagree, he had a solid season and only missed 2 games for injury, but Milan is a shambles of a team.

He's 25, we can get his best years.

Walker and Rose were the two best attacking wing backs we ever had !!!

I disagree, or maybe I don't...maybe they are the best attacking wing backs we ever had, that is depressing.

Oh well, if you count attacking with no teeth on the business end, then sure. Neither are consistent enough in delivering a killer ball.

Plus I think both are below average on the defensive side of the ball.

BL - I think we can do better.

BUT - I will caveat that I do think we need to keep a close eye on Rose and make sure he is getting all the help/support/treatment he needs.

It's quite funny reading the comments on here compared to the front page. Talk about chalk and cheese in the difference.

Tell you what a fit young Zeige would be priceless to our set up. Talk about forgetting more about delivery than Walker/Rose ever knew.

I know fans love to talk about Walker and Rose's final delivery. I don't disagree in any way. They also talk about their defending. I agree on that as well.

What I would say though is that my favourite full back combo was Cafu and Carlos. They played in a system for their clubs and countries that made them the undisputed full-backs. What they did best was neither specialist in defending or crossing. It was "owning" the entire left and right hand sides of the pitch. Their raw pace meant that teams doubled up on them and left holes in other parts of the pitch that were exploited.

The reason why I loved the Rose / Walker combo was that for a short time we had that. Amazing engines, raw pace, aggression, arrogance and opposition managers hated their names on the team sheet. They were nowhere near the natural ability of Cafu and Carlos but still put the fear into the opposition. They weren't even as good as Carr, Ziege, Hughton etc but they worked as a combo.

Ideally, we need to get back to that but don't see it next season with the current personnel.

You make a good observation there Muttley , if we get Aurier fit and can control his aggression into a positive way , and maybe keep Rose , or sell him and get a ready made replacement , we could go back to that situation .
Good post
