Apparently Rose is fuming. I know how he feels.

According to The Sun who reports that he's fuming

Leaving out Rose was a big call, but Poch claims it was because after a year out he needed to be rested, but also hinted that he was being readied for our next game in the Champions league against Dortmund; Personally listening to the interview, I wonder if he now regrets making that decision, I certainly do;

Explaining after the defeat to Arsenal Football.London reports, Poch said:

'Like Lamela, after nearly one year they need to build their fitness. No?'

But when asked if it was strange Rose was absent, he continued:

'No, not strange. It's strange when a player that is fit and plays regularly is out, but when you have been out for ten or 11 months out and then you start to play'

He added:

"Sometimes the decision is it is better to train and prepare for the next game rather than be on the bench and perhaps not play and waste time. It's not the same when you need to prepare for a game, with training. Sometimes they need different types of training to get fit and build their fitness. That is what happened with him.'

It seems to me that Poch, like me, Still believes he is the best Wing back we have got and our best option, and that both Rose and Aurier were being rested so that they will be able to start against Dortmund.

Perhaps Poch over-thought the rotation and the way he set us up against Arsenal, because quite frankly I`d have started both over Davies and Trippier and let both get more minutes under their belt, but of course you have to believe that the fitness coaches and the sports injury specialists are in a better position than me to advise Poch.

Let`s hope resting them turns out to be the right decision.

Who does Rose think he is to be that angry though? The lad has barley played in a year, does stupid interviews and moans about his wages and the club not winning trophies.

If I were Poch I would tell Rose to shut the hell up.

Having said that I would have played Rose against the gooners we are through in the CL. Glad Aurier didn't start he would have got sent off.

did feel like a hell of a lot of crosses were coming through on Davies side. Not all his fault but you feel that Rose, if fit enough, would have prevented a lot more.

Davies quite often gets exposed against better players when he is played as a wing back. It's been happening for years. He doesn't have the athleticism to run up and down all day like Rose or Walker did. So is that really Davies's fault? Management getting it wrong for me.

Wanyama was mobile enough to help out / cover and I do think when we have our usual 3 at the back Vertonghen cuts out a lot more too but with Wanyama out and Vert otherwise engaged it fell on Davies alone too often and he was found wanting.

Now seemingly told reporters has been battling depression , through having the wrong diagnosis on his knee problem , missing the chance of having surgery for four months , his uncle committing suicide and somebody firing a gun at his parents house . The club knew about this and referred him for specialist treatment .
Seems like he has been going through a bad time . Also saying things were going on behind the scenes at Tottenham that he can't talk about because he will get fined again

Gobbing off to the press again is he ?
Sounds like he's getting all his excuses in early in case he has a shit WC.

Interesting interview, especially this part:

"England has been my salvation and I can't thank the manager and the medical staff enough. It was really hard, and being referred to a doctor and psychologist by the Spurs club doctor helped me massively to cope."

No mention of our club, manager or team mates, only the England team.

Still seems he has his problems with Tottenham . Also why would he want to keep it all secret , then tell the world a week before the World Cup is due to start . Hardly conducive of getting your head right for important games .
He has been saying a lot about the racism in Russia stopping his family going out there .
Has he got a " why is it always me " syndrome . .? Or is it that other teams / players / families , comments and concerns are not being reported .
Depression is a really nasty condition and I genuinely feel for him if he has had that . But I do wonder what help and advice he has had , or not had , to come out with all this now .
Sometimes he seems like very isolated person . I just don't get why he says things when he does .

Agree, his timing has always been way off. His interviews seem planned by him and his agent.

It's clearly telling the world he needs a change and is not happy at the club. He is very important to our system but I honestly think we should be searching the world for his "natural" replacement. He will not be a Spurs player after the window shuts. I just hope he ends up at Watford were all our dross goes to fail.

I don't think he is doing himself any favours . IMO he is displaying his weaknesses for all to see. The demands on players in CL and PL are clearly huge , physically and mentally .
As you say , Spurdon, Watford would be his level

Southgate should impose restrictions on press subjects. World Cup and England issues only and they should be positive only, no negatives. The Sterling episode should have been the warning.

Danny has got this wrong again unfortunately, he seems to be troubled mentally and that's a problem for any manager, Poch, Southgate or Watfords. I should make allowances for him as depression is a nasty illness, I have seen it and what it can do.

In his infamous interview, he said one thing that triggered thought of anxiety and depression with me. That was the comment about his mum. "I will say this too, I will play up north. I don't know exactly when but I will get back up north and play some football somewhere. I have been away for over 10 years now and I don't get to see my mum that often."

Obviously, that comment turned him into Mr Evil and got interpreted as him wanting to join Utd or City. It was his motive i.e. his mum that got me wondering at the time whether he was feeling totally insecure and suffering with either anxiety or depression.

In his recent interview, there is still the randomness of someone whose head is totally scrambled. He clearly has irrational thoughts that Spurs are treating their players like robots and plugging them with cortisone rather than losing them to an operation. It's also irrational to say "I don't want to go into any detail because I'll end up being fined again". Comes across as provocative, but in reality it's just protective barriers coming up due to his brain being so scrambled.

Either way, Spurs and all clubs now need to take this head on and deal with mental health in their environment. Think about Aaron Lennon. It went from "what has a professional footballer got to be depressed about?" attitude to an overwhelming outpouring of support from the fans. That's what Rose needs now, not every word that comes out of his mouth being twisted every which way and him being made out to be the bad guy. Hopefully, unlike Lennon, Spurs will put the support structure around him and allow him to focus on playing football whether that's with us or back up north in an environment that works best for him.

You know this is far more nuanced than either your sympathetic toward Rose or your not. Here's the thing depression like all illness is a challenge. It requires diagnosis and treatment, it takes the suffer and those around him/her to be mindful of said challenges. It does not give them cartbanche to do as they like. Quite the reverse and in Danny's case in particular you wonder who is advising him, as I'm not sure on the strength of his media interaction they are acting in his best interest.

Spurdon, I agree with the general idea, but it seems he did make an effort to thank the England team, so I am sure he sent a message to the club.

Either way, for a player who breaks down physically so often, for such long periods, with very long recovery times, to also have (unfortunate) mental issues, is really an ominous sign.
