A few interesting comments in this snippet of his interview today;

Wonderful. It would be a lot more impressive if it was corrected in 50 seconds.

I think Poch is great, fwiw.

He doesn't see what is wrong very quickly at all. It was blatantly obvious the problems against pool, and his ego didn't allow him to change anything until it was to late. The bloke is an idiot, and he will be sussed very shortly

He is telling some porkies there. lol

He doesn't spot things that quickly as he normally takes an hour before he makes his first move. EGO.

Win us a trophy and then say what you want.

Hmmm. So when davies was repeatedly raped down our left against pool with no support he decided everything was OK.

Come on poch we know you're lying lol.

The other way to look at this is that he is admitting he knows when he has set up incorrectly almost immediately and waits until half time to try to sort it.

Looks to me like he is taking responsibility.

He's saying after 50 seconds he could see there was a problem with the mentality and focus, and that he would try to change/lift it at half time. He's not talking about selection. I don't think he is lying. I think even I can see after a minute what kind of Spurs are turning up - some games like City 2-0 etc. the crispness, sharpness, togetherness is evident immediately. The Liverpool game it was not there from the start, nor was Gent. I think it's an obvious point but managers don't normally make it. It's like the first minute in a meeting (often, not always) already tells you a lot about how the whole meeting is going to go.

Ha ha, that was the obvious one that my first thought went to !

Poch is no different to the rest of football, telling it as they would like it to be.

My guess is he can see it just like we can. What is not happening though is the players self correcting it themselves. If Son had half a brain he would have never left his full back so exposed. When I played full back, I never needed a manager to tell me why I was being left 2 on 1 or that I needed to pull a centre half closer to me as I had a super quick player on my side. Why couldn't Davies open his mouth, give Son a round of f***s and correct it himself. This is basic stuff.

What Poch is saying that when we have the riches, we'll get the players that can operate at a different level. I sort of agree with him, but won't defend him on Sissoko. For that price, we should be getting closer to the Rolls Royce.

But surely if the manager sees that the players aren't correcting a problem themselves, it's his job to get on the touchline bawling until they do, otherwise what's the point of him ?

Exactly. Not to mention you see the opponents set up.

That is a good point you make there, but surely as a manager it is part of his remit to ensure they are up for every game. I appreciate that all sides have better days than others, but when we do it it looks like two different teams.

Yeah, he sees what's wrong during the 50 secs it takes to write the starting line-up. But, the pheelosofee + rigid mentalitee kick in. It took him over 50 weeks to work out the excessive training sessions will bite us in the bum at the tail end of the season.

Something he ain't spotted in 2 seasons though..
Another decent striker needed.

Give Poch 200 mil to spend and he couldn't get a decent striker.
He's clueless.

I agree Davies should be helping identify the problem to his team mates and getting their support.

Tonight there were a few times Davies was wide open and one of our CBs was looking for someone to pass. He stayed quiet as a mouse - at which point a bloke near me started bellowing "CALL FOR IT DAVIES". From the look on Ben's face he seemed intimidated or something. I know not every player is vocal but it was like he was getting into a decent position but then didn't actually want the ball. You'd think he'd be growing in confidence having a long run of games but he doesn't seem to be comfortable atm

He didn't have a particularly bad game but I have no doubt we'd have had at least another goal with Danny playing and possibly prevented their 2nd. Our shape is so much better with his pace and his last ditch defending when others screw up.

That's a different point you make there Happy, but i agree. I think Poch thinks he HAS got them mentally up for a game, then sees after 50 seconds that the mentality and focus aren't there. Seen this too much this season. I'm wondering this - is Poch too 'loving', too cosy-club, has he been listening to too much HR bull, about how to treat 'millennials'? After we peaked with City 2-0, and Chelsea 2-0 & WBA 4-0, seems to me we get a chest-thumping club film in October of how 'Poch has changed Spurs fortunes' (then we go on a run of 1 win in 9); Alli player of the month; Alli in every paper with his WAG; Alli wearing what looks like a blouse; Alli for Madrid; Kane's having a baby; pratting around in Barcleona with Son/Korean girl/iPhones; instagram; Kane/Vertongen in the papers "we're going to win trophies". I wonder if this silly stuff corrodes the cohesion an focus of the team, kind of mild spice boy stuff? Whereas i reckon Conte has his players eating raw meat, visualizing themselves crunching opponents, fighting for each other and putting the ball in the net from all angles. Poch needs to toughen up, demand a higher standard of performance, more fight on the pitch, and more focussed mentality (and humility) off the pitch. Stop being so nice to everyone. As well as being players, this lot need to become men (Aldo is streets ahead in this department)
