Poch: Janssen needs to show more

Vital Champions League
Mauricio Pochettino has demanded an improvement from misfiringTottenham striker Vincent Janssenafter leaving the Dutchman out of his squad for the Europa League defeat at Gent.
The Tottenham manager said: “He needs to show more and we will see. Maybe he will have the chance to be on the bench or play from the start against Fulham.

With Harry Kane likely to be rested after taking a knock to his knee in Belgium, there could be a chance for Janssen in the FA Cup fifth-round tie at Fulham on Sunday – though Pochettino offered no guarantees to the struggling 22-year-old.

He was out of the squad against Gent and we cannot be sure if he will be in the squad, on the bench or start the game. Performance is always about how the players show their quality, their belief on the training ground.

“When I select the starting XI and the bench, I try to be fair. It is normal that maybe he (Janssen) needs to show more.”

Neither Janssen nor Georges-Kevin Nkoudou nor Moussa Sissoko appears to have the trust of Pochettino, despite Tottenham concluding deals worth a possible £60million to sign the trio last summer.

Maybe Poch feels sorry for Janssen so tries to reward him by giving him a game now and again. I see lots of sweat and toil but cannot see the quality to warrant selection in the starting 11/bench. Whatever the skills coach is doing with Janssen, if we have one, it’s not working.

Just get Janssen doing what he did in Holland - playing facing the opponents goal and attacking the 6 yard box.

He just hasn't been doing enough of that.

It does sound and look like Poch is losing faith in his recent signings and to be fair, so far they're looking like a shocking waste of money.

But I still think that Janssen can come good as I do Nkoudou, but we may well have to change our tactics to see the best of them.

Whenever asked during a transfer windows, Poch always said, We will buy if a player can improve our squad...

So his last three purchases: N'Koudou, Jannsen, Sissoko....

Thanks for the improvement Poch, whilst some of his favs have time off or fail to turn up!

He's gone - he is getting the full Mopo treatment binned completely.

Can't blame him, he's shite.

Hopefully Sissoko joins him on the naughty seat, both crap and neither would be missed for the rest of this season based on their contribution to date.

Surely we must have a couple of kids who we can promote up who would contribute absolutely zilch rather than having to suffer watching either of those 2 again , what about the tea lady lady and the office cat ?

He's gone. Literally no reason to keep him now

Get Berba on a 6 month contract

I'm certain Berba would contribute more to the rest of this season than Janssen and Sissoko combined, imagine him coming off the bench when we need a goal.

Berba needs players on his wavelength to get the best out of him, Robbie was an ideal fit. Our current crop makes so many poor decisions he would get frustrated.

Berbs can create from nothing in a way few can but he won't do the pressing.

Still take him on a 6 month contract

Does that mean that Sihitoko shows belief and quality on the training ground?

Janssen is young and new to the league so if hes a flop then mopo doesnt have to justify it. Sissoko on the other hand has played here, was average bar 1 or 2 games and yet mopo still shelled out 30m for him. He has to justify it lol.

I still don't think it was Poch who wanted to sign Janssen or Sissoko. He would have been advised to agree to the signings maybe ?

I think Ex you rather refer to the set up of the players when a game starts while when I refer to tactics I mean the act of managing the squad on the field during the whole game which includes changing position and role of some individual players as well changing the set up of the team on the field, plus replacement of some players in order to help the team get out of an impasse or counter-fight the opponent's tactics or in order to help the team take advantage of the situation on the field or defend a lead.

The term tactics is wider than simply the set up to start a game.
