Poch is calm about transfers..

Spursex

Alert Team
As I said a couple of weeks ago in response to speculation all was not well with Poch/the acquisition team at Spurs on their progress, Poch and the club are calm and pretty happy at how progress is shaping up;

Nevertheless, the Argentine coach confirms he will add "a few players" perhaps, but stresses the importance of adding the right players.

Today Poch said:

"We are so calm and so quiet and I believe in our squad and those pushing through from our academy," he told ESPN.

"We will add, maybe, a few players, but we are so calm because we have a very good team.

"We need to add more quality if we can find the types of player to help us next season to play better in all periods."

Doesn't sound like a man who is in the slightest bit fazed about all the nonsense going on in the press (and elsewhere)..

Graham Roberts, who has never been slow to have a go at how the club has behaved over the years, seems to also reflect exactly what I'd said a few weeks ago:

http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/07/20/graham-roberts-says-conversations-with-pochettino-have-him-confi/

Let's hope his, Poch's and the acquisition teams' positivity turns into a reality.

a bit more of Poch's comments:

He told ESPN: "I think because the big sides are investing a lot of money in trying to improve their squads (some are panicking), but for us we are so calm and so quiet because we have belief in our youth from our academy.

"We may lack a few players, but we are so calm because I think we have a very good team and the most important thing for us always is the team.

"Always the philosophy is coming from the board and in the case of Daniel Levy, I think we have a very good relationship, we have a clear idea of what we need to do in the future.

"I think our facilities are amazing and the training ground and the new stadium will be one of the best in Europe. It's an exciting moment for Tottenham. But it is true we have a different philosophy, it's not because we cannot invest, but Tottenham have built a different philosophy than the other big clubs.

"I think in football, money can help you build a better squad or bring in talented players but it's not only about money, you need to be creative, you need to be clever. It will be tough next season for us, but we believe in the way that we play and we work."

Basically....we ain't signing anything big.

Doesn't sound like, it seems our transfer strategy remains roughly the same.

I admire their confidence. They know what they are doing.

Who are we to suggest playing away from home all season, not signing any big guns in line with rivals and selling arguably the best RB in the PL to a rival is detrimental to our season.

We will rise above it and up our game another level to challenge for the title and cups.

If we don't, we can look forward to yet another new coach... :10:

I have never seen Poch lose his cool once. He is a good actor. Levy can't believe his luck with this man. He is everything he has always wanted. A manager that comes across well, never loses his cool, never moans, accepts he doesn't get the funds required to win trophies. Invested in the youth system.

I suppose getting paid £5.5m a year helps. ;-)

I can't believe anyone is surprised by what is going on. The strategy has been clear for at least two seasons now. The club has communicated it well yet no one listens and expects them to deviate from the plan.

You may not like MP. You may not like Levy. But there isn't any bullshit coming out of the club anymore.

And THAT I like a lot.

I have to say his impact at our club is huge. He is building something akin to Fergies side of the 90s. He has improved almost every player under his tutorage and signed players like Wanyama and Toby.

I have had the odd pop about questionable tactics or team selections but WTF do I know.

Most have had a pop at him at times NRD myself included. Some things have been warranted.

His tactics at times are weird and costly. Sissogo signing was a shocker. Apart from that it's hard to say anything negative about him.

Levy musn't be able to believ his luck and, at times like this, you can sense his Puppet Master hand right up the Porksters jacksey, manipulating the meaningless drivel coming out of the mouthpiece.

Nice to see that he has just been taught the word 'calm' though - no doubt told to use it at every opportunity.

The man obviously has no ambition whatsoever.

His current squad ( now minus Walker ) have finished 2nd to Leicester and the Chavs, so no chance of going one step further with no signings, but hey, who cares, Spurs are not in the game for glory on the field anymore, everyone knows that.

And to get that 3rd and 2nd place in the PL, we were a joke in Europe and useless in the domestic cups.

But still, he is calm about going backwards at Wembley.

Just carry on being in the game for the money Poch, leave winning things to the proper managers.

Archie I understand because you were anti Poch from day one.

Chiv, you are a drama queen and a first class WUM.

Anti the manager who achieved the most goals and fewest conceded in the season. The only club to ever do that and not win the title.

I don't think he is actually. In my time here I have seen many. BA has a different opinion to some. I have disagreed with him over the years but we have always been civil.

Good poster.

Those stats mean absolutely nothing unless you win, just like the ones thrown at Leicester 2 seasons ago.

A bit like AVBs highest points.

Chelsea have realised they need players in and have done so, either improved the quality or an extra head.

I imagine Mopo behind the scenes is going to be getting a little nervous.

The players the chavs have signed are beastly signings. We have no chance of finishing above them now.
