Plymouth v Swansea Tue 10 Dec 19:45

Third match in a row we play a struggling side.

This time it’s third from bottom Plymouth Argyle, showing live on Sky Sports Plus. Plymouth last won 5 matches ago, a 1-0 win in the dockyard derby at home to Portsmouth.

We meet up again with ex-Swans Michael Obefemi, (2 goals) on loan from Burnley, Morgan Whittaker (3 goals) and Matthew Sorinola. Other scorers this season include Ibrahim Cissoko 3 and Andre Gray 3.

It’s a 376 mile round trip for the Jack Army, away allocation sold out, who will be on the road again after the long and windy Luton trip on Saturday.

We won there 1-3 last season with goals from Yates, Cooper and Key, ex-Swan loanee Luke Cundle scored the Plymouth goal.

Before that, we last played this fixture in 2010. It was a 1-1 draw there after a twice taken 87’ penalty controversy. De Vries saved the first penalty, but the linesman flagged that De Vries had moved off his line before the ball was struck. De Vries saved the second shot but the rebound was fired home by Johnson.

The irony was that it was later revealed that the linesman who flagged was a Plymouth fan and had written various articles in their programme. Manager Paulo Sousa said “Everyone in the ground could see what happened. I have watched a replay of it since and the keeper's foot is on the line.” He’s right, I was there and saw it! Swans were 4th in the Championship table at that time, Plymouth 23rd.

The team that day: De Vries, Williams, Tate, Monk, Rangel, Pratley, Orlando, Butler, Richards, Pintado, Trundle.

Subs: Cornell, Dyer, Allen, Gower, Cotterill, Idrizaj, Kunitz.

Time to meet Wayne Rooney once again.

Swans: Lawrence Vigouroux, Josh Key, Ben Cabango, Harry Darling, Josh Tymon, Matt Grimes (c), Jay Fulton, Liam Cullen, Myles Peart-Harris, Jisung Eom, Florian Bianchini

Subs: Jon McLaughlin, Zan Vipotnik, Goncalo Franco, Nathan Tjoe-A-On, Cyrus Christie, Kyle Naughton, Nelson Abbey, Ronald, Azeem Abdulai

Plymouth: Daniel Grimshaw, Bali Mumba, Nathanael Ogbeta, Kornel Szucs, Callum Wright, Mustapha Bundu, Lewis Gibson (c), Darko Gyabi, Andre Gray, Adam Randell, Brendan Galloway

Subs: Conor Hazard, Jordan Houghton, Julio Pleguezuelo, Ryan Hardie, Michael Obafemi, Adam Forshaw, Rami Al Haji, Tegan Finn, Victor Palsson

35’ Plymouth looking the more dangerous
36’ free kick on the edge of the box for Plymouth, Randell hits the wall

41’ Plymouth players falling down like nine-pins, another free kick into the box.

43’ 0-1 Fulton, cross only half cleared by Galloway straight to Fulton who fires home.

HT 0-1
Very little chances either end and fairly even possession

55’ Eom shoots wide from left to right of goal
57’ Swans keep on passing it back to Vigouroux and putting him under pressure

59’ 0-2 Cullen
Peart-Harris puts in a lovely cross ball between defence and goalkeeper for poacher Cullen to fire home

66’ Ronald and Vipotnik on, Eom and Bianchini off
69’ Fulton misses an easy header from a Peart-Harris cross
71’ Ronald tackled in the area, penalty turned down
73’ Gibson shot over the bar.

78’ 1-2 Bundu header from a corner.

Too many subs for us and it’s disrupted our rhythm, what was he thinking taking the two full backs off.
Now we are under pressure
82’ tackle by Cabango on Obafemi, penalty shout correctly turned down
84’ all Plymouth now
4 minutes added time

FT: 1-2
Another nail biter at the end, hanging on when we were much the better team. Too many changes the reason (five subs).
